Indianapolis practice results for the NTT Indycar Series
This weekend, it’s an INDYCAR/NASCAR double-header. Both divisions share time on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. Up first, it’s a round of practice for the Indycar Series.

50 minutes remain, Ryan Hunter-Reay sits at the top of the times sheets early in this session with a 1:12.4039.
48 minutes remain, Graham Rahal locks up into turn 7. He runs wide and through the grass at the exit of the corner, no major issue.
45 minutes remain, Cody Ware and Colton Herta lock up both front wheels into turn one, just seconds apart.
Halfway
Rinus VeeKay leads the field at the halfway mark in the session.

24 minutes remain, Herta is loose and he locks up big into turn one. Herta radio, “I’m just going to come in. The car’s a big mess right now.”
17 minutes remain, Rossi has stopped on the pit lane. The drivers says he has no throttle as the crew runs down the pit lane to retrieve the machine.
8 minutes remain, Alex Palou jumps to the top of the board on the softer red tires.
7 minutes remain, Colton Herta is stalled just beyond the pit exit. The team says it’s a clutch issue as well as an oil pressure. The same issue as his teammate just moments ago.
3 minutes remain, the green is back out and the full field hits the track at once. Almost all are on softer red tires.
Takuma Sato and Ed Jones fight for space. The rub fenders through a tight section of the course.
Rahal locks up in turn 7 for the second time in this session.
