ARCA results from the Springfield Mile dirt track
Today, the ARCA Menards Series invades the Springfield Mile dirt track. It’s the first dirt race of the season for the stock car racing series.

NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier is in the show. The driver from Illinois has loads of dirt track experience. Ryan Unzicker, anther dirt race comes into this race as the defending race winner.

Springfield Mile
Report
Green, Gibbs and Heim run side by side into turn one. Heim noses ahead via the inside lane off turn two. Gibbs struggles to get to the bottom and Jesse Love takes over 2nd on the inside of turn three.
Lap 10, Heim leads Love by 3 seconds.
Lap 25, Ryan Unzicker is up in smoke. No caution as he pulls to the pit area.
Race break
Lap 40, the first of two race break cautions are out. The field is frozen as cars hit the pit lane for tires and adjustements.
Green, Heim leads on the inside. Gibbs drops the inside and holds 2nd. Justin Allgaier continues his charge to the front.
Lap 50, DL Wilson slows and the caution is out.
Green, Heim noses ahead in turn one. Gibbs can’t get to the bottom as he’s tight into turn one. Gibbs washes wide off turn two and Taylor Gray works inside of him into turn three, Gray to 2nd.
Lap 62, Heim struggles to lap Mike Goudie. Gray closes quickly on Heim in the battle for the lead. Heim gets into the back of Goudie, turns him around and Gray drives by both of them on the inside. Goudie slams the outside wall and the caution is out.
Green, Gray leads Heim into turn one.
Race break
Lap 72, the second race break caution is out. Most of the field hits the pit lane, Jesse Love stays out!
Green, Gray and Love fight for space into turn one. Love wins the battle via the inside lane. Gray runs wide and Corey Heim slips under him off turn two to take 2nd away. Ty Gibbs also works under Gray as he struggles to get to the bottom, Gray falls to 4th.
Corey Heim has a run on Love off turn four. He dives to the inside and clears him to take over the lead. Gibbs tries to follow him through but the door closes quickly. Gibbs dives inside of Love in turn three, Gibbs to 2nd.
Lap 78, Ty Gibbs has closed to within a car length of Heim in the battle for the win.
10 to go, Heim opens the gap to nearly 4 seconds.
