Pierce was not allowed to compete in Thursday’s show at Eldora Speedway
Dirt late model drivers have invaded Rossburg, Ohio. The half-mile track of Eldora Speedway is paying out big money for a four day show.
Bobby Pierce unloaded with a unique look for the week, a Mystery Machine. His No. 32 dirt late model is wrapped in a Scooby-Doo theme.
Two World 100 races are taking place this week. Thursday saw the conclusion of the 51st World 100.
Pierce ran the preliminary night on Wednesday. With passing points in play, Pierce earned enough to rank 3rd of the 80 competitors. He was rolling into Thursday as one of the favorites.
Those points are used to set the heat races in the finale. However, Pierce was unable to take part in Thursday’s show as a crew member got into trouble on a fourwheeler after the driver had gone to bed…
Bobby Pierce comments on Eldora penalty
Pierce stated Thursday afternoon, “Want to inform my fans that we are not racing tonight due to an incident with a singular crew guy disobeying the Eldora speedway four wheeler rules / other rules late last night after racing events concluded.”
“Even though the rest of the team including myself were asleep, I understand, as the driver I am responsible for my crew. Thankful we are able to race tomorrow, but I want to apologize for any disturbance caused to Eldora speedway staff & apologies to all the fans that wanted to see us race in the biggest race of the year.”
“With the invert being a 5, I would have started 5th in my heat race I believe. Good luck to all the other competitors.”
Pierce concluded, “There will be no other public statements made about the situation.”
The 50th annual World 100 begins tonight. It’s the makeup race from last year’s postponement paying $53,000 to win on Saturday. Pierce is back in the lineup.
