Austin Hill to join Richard Childress Racing in 2022

Silly season unfolds with a new NASCAR opportunity for Austin Hill at RCR

Austin Hill has signed to drive for Richard Childress Racing in 2022. Hill will run full-time in the division.

Hill will race alongside the defending NASCAR Truck Series champion Sheldon Creed. Both drivers will run full time in Xfinity for RCR.

In 2020, Hill claimed the regular season championship in the NASCAR Truck Series.

“Austin Hill has established himself as a very competitive racer within the NASCAR Truck Series and we know that he is ready for a fulltime opportunity in the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of RCR. “Austin is a talented young driver and I feel confident that he will help contribute to wins at RCR.”

RCR has 86 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Austin Hill comments on 2022

Between 2019-2021, Hill has run 15 NASCAR Xfinity Series races for Hattori Racing Enterprises. He has a career best finish of 5th which came at Kansas Speedway.

This year, in his final NASCAR Truck Series season with Hattori, Hill claimed back to back wins. He won the debut race at Knoxville Raceway and followed it up with another win, in the very next event at Watkins Glen.

As of just a few weeks ago, Hill was unsure of his plans for 2022. He’s been racing for a ride and now he’s finally landed one.

“To say it’s an honor to drive for Richard Childress Racing is an understatement,” said Hill.

The driver added, “I’ve been working hard for an opportunity like this since I was a young kid. I really admire RCR’s NASCAR Xfinity Series program, and I am looking forward to having the chance to add my name to the impressive list of drivers who have won under the RCR banner.”

The 27-year-old has won 8 races in the NASCAR Truck Series throughout his 8 year career in the division. In 117 races, the driver has 51 top-10s.
