In early October, Brandon Brown drove to victory lane in a race at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. He climbed from his car on the front stretch for a quick interview.

In the background, fans began chanting, “Fuck Joe Biden.”

The reporter incorrectly heard the phrase and reported it back as, “Let’s go Brandon!” Since then, the phrase has shifted and “Let’s Go Brandon” has taken over the nation. It’s chanted at nearly every sporting event, reaching far beyond NASCAR.

Eric Schmitt

Republican Eric Schmitt is Missouri’s Attorney General. He’s also running for a U.S. Senate seat.

Schmitt has unique campaign merchandise. He’s put the popular phrase on a shirt and much more.

“Hearing this Brandon guy is getting a lot of attention. Get your merch today and support the cause,” Missouri’s Attorney General Eric Schmitt stated via twitter with an image of the merchandise.

Bumper stickers, koozies, t-shirts and hats on the online store all feature the phrase, “Let’s Go Brandon”.

Additionally, other items feature the phrase, “The Winner’s Circle”. That could be a nod to the same incident from Talladega.

In addition to the well known phrase, the items all feature indistinguishable bars from the official NASCAR logo. The red, yellow and blue strips are near identical to the logo.

Just a few weeks ago during the championship race at Phoenix Raceway, the president of NASCAR spoke on the phrase that spawned from a NASCAR event. He stated that NASCAR doesn’t connect with left or right politics.

He also noted that, “We will pursue whoever (is using logos) and get that stuff.”

The phrase was heard later that same day during the front stretch interview for the NASCAR Truck Series event at Phoenix Raceway
