On Saturday, the ARCA Menards Series opened the race weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. The track is a 2.5-mile oval in Alabama.

Watch the Talladega crash video below.

On lap 50 of 76, Toni Breidinger was turned following a bump draft from Richard Garvie. Breidinger slid across the track collecting Brayton Laster.

Laster was back across the track and Garvie jumped over him. All four wheels of Garvie’s machine left the race track before smashing back to the earth.

Eric Caudell went through the infield and spun up the tri-oval banking. Scott Melton came into the scene with nowhere to go. Melton drove right into the passenger door of Caudell at around 170mph.

A total of 7 cars were involved. It was the biggest ARCA crash at Talladega since 2013.

The No. 69 driver of Melton is 60-year-old. He’s from Rockford, Michigan.

Officials cut the roof off Scott Melton’s machine but the driver was awake and alert as they did. They put him on a stretcher and then into the ambulance.

Melton gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he went into the ambulance. The crowd cheered.

This post will be updated if more information becomes available.

ARCA drivers comment on the crash

Toni Breidinger told Fox Sports, “We just got hooked in the tri-oval. It’s sketchy there anyways. We all kinda got stacked up a little bit. Kinda part of it, wrong spot, wrong time.”

Richard Garvie stated, “The 25 was lifting for about two laps. We were on the radio saying, ‘She keeps lifting.’ I think we got some help from behind. Then, we were a passenger from that point on. But, I think we should get a 10 out of 10 for the aerobatics there. It just sucks for everybody.
