Kansas Race Results: May 14, 2022 (NASCAR Truck Series)

Stewart Friesen was unable to make it to the track in time for qualifying as his flights were canceled. Bubba Wallace qualified his machine and put it 5th in the show but Friesen will be joined the rear of the field.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 30 (1-30 / 134)

Green flag, Heim and Nemechek run even into turn one. Nemechek blocks a run from Zane Smith as he attempts to make it three wide for the lead off turn two. Nemechek side drafts Heim down the back and he takes the lead on the outside into turn three.

Lap 3, Zane Smith looks inside of Nemechek in the battle for the lead. They trade side drafts but Smith finally clears him to take the lead.

Lap 14, Blaine Perkins gets turned by Tate Fogleman into turn three. Perkins loops a full 360, keeps going and heads for the pit lane. No caution.

Lap 22, Corey Heim has a run on Smith into turn three. He drives it deep to the inside, slides and clears him. Smith has momentum off turn four and fights him for the lead in turn one. Heim holds him off.

Green flag on stage two, Smith and Heim run side by side into turn one. Heim clears him via the outside lane.

Lap 50, Smith leads Heim by 2.5 seconds. Smith is running the outside lane as he slices though lap traffic.

Smith leads the field to the pit lane but it’s a slow stop for him. Ben Rhodes wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage three, Smith noses ahead into turn turn one. They run three wide for 2nd behind him.

50 to go, Smith leads Heim by 4 seconds.

49 to go, Jack Wood pits under green with a flat tire.

45 to go, Kris Wright brushes the wall and drops debris, caution.

The field returns to the pit lane. Corey Heim wins the race to the pit exit.

Pit Penalty: Carson Hocevar will go to the rear after an uncontrolled tire.

Green, Smith drives it deep to the inside and he clears Heim. Smith returns to the lead as Nemechek follows him through to take 2nd.

27 to go, Corey Heim slaps the wall in turn one. He was running 6th at the time. He likely blew a tire. Heim heads for the pit lane under green.

20 to go, Smith leads Nemechek by 4 seconds.

13 to go, Dean Thompson spins off turn two on his own. The caution is out.

Green, Ty Majeski shoves Zane Smith to the lead on the inside lane as Nemechek spins the tires on the outside lane. Smith leads Majeski.

6 to go, Nemechek gets loose off turn four! He smacks the wall with the right rear but he saves it, no caution.
