The series issued a statement on the incident
On Saturday night, the World of Outlaws unloads at Cedar Lake Speedway. They battled for $10,000 to win at the New Richmond, Wisconsin dirt track.
Brock Zearfoss drove it to the win. But, that wasn’t the highlight of the night.
During the feature, Sheldon Haudenschild was stalled at the exit of the hot pit. An official in an ATV pushed the No. 17 from the front, back into the hot pit area.
The car was against the outside wall. The car wasn’t pulled off the wall before the official began pushing the machine back to the hot pit.
Just as they reached the end of the wall, crew members approached the machine. A few words were exchanged with the official in the ATV. Then, the crew members pulled the car off the wall by a few inches before the official began pushing the car backwards once more.
As common with dirt racing, crews from multiple teams went to work on Haudenschild’s machine. One of those was a crew member for Donny Schatz.
The official that was driving the ATV ran into the scene. He grabbed a crew member who was wearing a Donny Schatz shirt.
“You shut the fuck up when you’re talking to me,” the official screamed.
The official then pushed the crew member to the ground.
Another official came into the scene. He grabbed the other official and pushed him away from the crowd.
The second official yelled, “Back off” in an attempt to calm the other official.
After changing the right rear tire, Haudenschild returned to the track and restarted at the tail of the field. He drove to a 9th place finish.
