47-year-old Kevin Harvick is in his last season of full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing. After 23 years at the Cup level, the driver of the No. 4 for Stewart-Haas Racing will retire at the end of the season.

In stage three at COTA, many drivers were running short on fuel. The race was becoming a fuel millage race.
According to the #4 pit box, they had more fuel than most of the leaders. And they were in a position to capitalize. As most of the field was saving fuel, Harvick needed to go.
A caution ended up changing the whole strategy. Instead, the entire field pitted and the race then went into triple-overtime, ending the race in chaos.
However, before that, the No. 4 team had a heated radio exchange about speed while most of the field was short on fuel…
