Josh Williams delivers pizza to NASCAR hauler after suspension (Video)

The NASCAR driver was suspended after parking on track at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Two weeks ago, Josh Williams was involved in an early crash during the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He went to the pit lane for quick repairs. As the caution came to a close, the team released the car from the pit lane.

As Williams caught up to the tail of the field, a piece of tape blew off of his machine. NASCAR was forced to extend the caution, they deployed the safety trucks to pick up the tape.

At this point, the tower was likely frustrated with the race in general. They nearly blew through their entire tv window, just in stage one, with an endless number of cautions.

NASCAR gave Williams the black flag and told him to take it to the garage. That’s the standard penalty for extending a caution after making repairs.

Williams had other ideas. He pulled his car to the start/finish line, parked it and climbed out while pointing at the tower. Instead of driving to the garage, he let NASCAR haul his machine off the track.

NASCAR told Williams to join them at the NASCAR hauler. However, they wouldn’t be ready for him until the race was concluded. So, the driver spent several hours inside the hauler and he noted that he was fed pizza during that time.

Later in the week, Williams was handed a 1-race suspension for his actions. He missed the race last weekend at Circuit of the Americas.

This weekend, he returned to the garage at Richmond Raceway. He returned to see his friends at the NASCAR hauler, parking outside in a makeshift Papa Johns golf cart.

Josh Williams comments after dropping off pizza

“Returning the favor,” Josh Williams explained via twitter.

“I wanted to bring you guys some pizza. You were so kind to me 2 weeks ago.”

Thanks to the NASCAR Xfinity Hauler and Richmond Raceway Media Center for allowing me to stop by with some Papa Johns for everyone.”

“It’s good to be back,” he said of his return to the garage.

“Grateful for the 1-hour employment contract,” Williams stated via social media.

After delivering the pizzas, the driver picked up an official Papa Johns certificate. The paper read ‘Papa Johns Honorary Team Member’. The certificate is awarded to the employee of the day.
