A few days later, he raced on the dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway with the broken finger. And, he pulled double-duty at Bristol, racing in the NASCAR Truck Series as well as the NASCAR Cup Series.
After the Bristol weekend, he had a meeting scheduled with the doctor. He thought he would be in surgery last week.

However, Briscoe elected to race with a broken finger for the second week in a row, yesterday at Martinsville Speedway. Briscoe led over 100 laps and was in position to pick up a race win before a late race caution in the middle of a pit cycle flipped his race upside down.
“I get surgery at 5am in the morning tomorrow. Hopefully they do a good job and I’ll be back next week.”
“Yeah, with how we’ve been running, I might need to break another one. It’s funny, it’s like that’s been the turning point for us.”
“It was fine today. There was a couple times, it’s like I said last week, it’s so bulky compared to what I’m used to. It’s kinda hard when I get in certain positions.
“Next week will probably be the easiest so far. I’m curious to see what it will be like with pins in it and stuff like that. I’m sure I’m going to have to do some things different.”

Surgery was scheduled for the day after the race at Martinsville.
“They said I don’t have to be put under (for the procedure), but I definitely don’t want to be awake for that,” he said.
On Monday morning, Briscoe went into surgery on his left middle finger.
His wife Mirissa tweeted on Monday morning,”Chase is out of surgery and all is well, thank you everyone for the prayers. Keep them coming!”
