Race Report
Green flag, Lundqvist is clear before turn one as they form three wide for 2nd. Marcus Armstrong tags the gearbox of Lundqvist off turn one and they both spin! Kyle Kirkwood is handed the lead and the caution is out.
Green, McLaughlin has a tow on Kirkwood at the launch. He works to his outside and McLaughlin clears him for the lead under braking into turn one.
Lap 4, caution for debris.
Lap 7, Kyffin Simpson gets turned by Christian Rasmussen and he’s stuck in the sand. The caution is back out.
Lap 17, green flag stops are underway.
Lap 24, McLaughlin cycles back to the lead. Newgarden trails by 3 seconds.
Lap 31, McLaughlin dives to the pit lane from the lead. Another pit cycle is underway.
Lap 36
Lap 36, Newgarden has a run on McLaughlin into turn one. He clears him just as the rest of the leaders head for the pit lane. Newgarden cycles to the race lead.
Lap 43, McLaughlin dives to the pits for the final time. A lap later, Newgarden pits and he cycles out 0.5 seconds ahead of McLaughlin.
Lap 45, Power dives for the pit lane and he’s out ahead of Newgarden! He jumps from 3rd to 1st in a pit cycle.
7 to go, Power leads Newgarden by 1.5 seconds.
