Sheldon Creed is taking a big risk in the 2024 season
Sheldon Creed has run 93 NASCAR Xfinity Series races over his six year career. He’s collected 21 top-5 finishes and 43 top-10s along the way. Of those, he’s finished 2nd, eleven times.
Yet, Creed has yet to find victory lane.
On Saturday, Creed drove to the bumper of Christopher Bell and took the lead away at Darlington Raceway. However, a caution came out with just five laps to go, putting the race into overtime.
Creed led the field to the pit lane. However, a slow stop for him put him out in 3rd ahead of the restart.
Christopher Bell went on to take the win away.
“He was better in the long run and we were better in the short run. Unfortunately for him, the race played out differently,” Christopher Bell told NBC Sports.
Creed is in his first full-time season with a new team. He made the switch from Richard Childress Racing to Joe Gibbs Racing. And with the move, Creed is taking a financial gamble on himself…

Sheldon Creed comments after Darlington Raceway
“I lost one the same way a few years ago here,” Sheldon Creed stated.
“This has always been a really good place for me. And, I’ve always loved racing here.”
“I don’t know what to do to be any better than that. I feel like I put in one of my best performances today.”
“Love my pit crew and they do a great job for us. I can’t put that on them but we just got beat on pit road today.”
“I don’t even know what the caution was for. It’s a bummer.”
“I took a chance on myself and we brought all the money we could. I’m literally not even making a dollar this year. It just hurts when they get away like that.”
Earlier this year, Joey Logano stated that even as a NASCAR Cup Series champion, he needs to bring money to the table to race in the Xfinity Series or Truck Series.
