Alex Bowman addresses rumors of Hendrick Motorsports departure

“It got to the point where I picked up the phone and called everybody”

Alex Bowman currently drives the No. 48 for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series. And just ahead of the NASCAR playoffs, there’s some drama.

Hendrick Motorsports has yet to announce their 2025 driver lineup. That has led to speculation amid silly season.

Brett Griffin and Freddie Kraft held a conversation about Alex Bowman via their Door Bumper Clear podcast. Griffin hinted that Alex Bowman could be replaced for the 2025 season if he does not advance from the first round of the playoffs.

Bowman is contracted to drive the No. 48 through the end of the 2026 season.

Bowman won four races in the 2021 season. Since then, Bowman won one race in 2022 and has one more this season.

Meanwhile, his teammates have victory lane in the GPS. This season alone, Kyle Larson has won four races, William Byron has three wins and Chase Elliott also has one win.

Alex Bowman addresses the rumors

“That rumor has certainly been annoying,” Bowman told Alan Cavanna.

“Obviously, my contract is through the end of 2026 and all I can tell you is what my bosses have told me and that there’s no plans to change anything.

“Rumors are just rumors. Hopefully, they’ll get their announcements done so my rumors stop. As far as I know, I’m driving the 48 next year and nothing’s changing.”

“I trust my bosses and that’s what they’ve told me,” Bowman added.

“Other than that, just focusing on trying to be strong for the next 10 weeks.”

“It got to the point where I picked up the phone and called everybody and everybody said, ‘Absolutely not.’

“So, that’s really all I have to go on. And I don’t have a reason to believe anything other than that. There’s no ‘you need to do this to keep your job’. Like, it’s absolutely not, everything’s fine.”

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs begin this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The opening round is three races before four of the sixteen drivers are eliminated.
