Sam Mayer was disqualified after the race at Talladega Superspeedway
Over the weekend, playoff driver Sam Mayer was disqualified after the finish at Talladega Superspeedway. The No. 1 JR Motorsports car failed post-race tech inspection.
NASCAR noted that the failure was due to ride heights in the rear of the car being too low.
Before the penalty, Mayer’s finish placed him above the playoff elimination line. After the penalty, he sits below the line.
This weekend, Charlotte Motor Speedway will host the final race in the Round of 12, eliminating four drivers from the playoffs.
JR Motorsports has the option to appeal the penalty. They have elected to do so…
JR Motorsports statement
On Monday, the team issued the following statement:
“JR Motorsports will appeal the disqualification of Sam Mayer and the No. 1 team following last weekend’s event at Talladega Suerpspeedway.”
