Watch the video as a driver attempted to pull the helmet off another driver during a red flag in the Gateway Dirt Nationals
The Gateway Dirt Nationals opened round two of the show on Friday night. And, the second B-Main brought drama in the late model division.
Only 3 cars advance from the B-Main into the main event. Dakota Smith and Dean Carpenter were in a battle for the 3rd and final transfer position.
With 4 to go, Carpenter and Smith ran side by side. Carpenter ran Smith a bit wide.
Heading into the next corner, they rubbed doors all the way through the corner. Carpenter ran Smith wide once more as they exited the corner.
Smith was forced to lift. However, as he did, Smith climbed over the right rear of Carpenter.
Smith bounced off the outside wall and across the track. He was then slammed into by multiple cars as they came into the scene.
Tempers were hot. Smith climbed from his mangled machine in a hurry. He then sprinted from turn one to turn four for a meeting with Carpenter under the red flag.
It appeared that Smith was attempting to rip the helmet off of Carpenter as he sat inside the car.
Two officials pulled Smith away from the scene. Carpenter then stuck his middle finger out of the window.
Dakota Smith comments
“You just got idiots driving in over their head,” Dakota Smith told Flo racing.
He added, “Just being stupid. Wasn’t no sense in it.”
