The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway was dominated by Kyle Larson who had a message to send
Kyle Larson just annihilated the NASCAR Xfinity Series field at Bristol Motor Speedway. He led 277 of 300 laps. And with his blistering pace, he only allowed 12 drivers to finish on the lead lap.
Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin are looking for Next Gen fixes
The debate of NASCAR Cup Series drivers racing in lower divisions is nothing new. And NASCAR has placed limits on them in recent years.
Cup drivers with more than three years in the series are limited to just 5 Xfinity Series races per season. However, playoff races and the championship finale exclude Cup drivers .
And in recent seasons, there were more limits.
Previously, NASCAR Cup Series drivers were not allowed to run special Dash 4 Cash events in the Xfinity Series. That opened the door for Larson to run the Xfinity Series race at Bristol.
Smoking the field, was exactly the goal for 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson.

Kyle Larson aims to embarrass NASCAR when he runs the Xfinity Series
“This is going to come across very cocky. I want to embarrass NASCAR a little bit,” Kyle Larson stated via Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.
Larson clarified that he doesn’t feel the same way when he runs NASCAR Truck Series events. Likely because the Trucks are such a different type of vehicle.
“Because they just don’t let Cup guys run anymore. The kids, they probably think they’re in a good spot. They don’t know where the bar is at, so I like to go run those Xfinity races and get 10-second leads to let them realize they have a lot of room to improve.”
“And, I think that’s only better for the sport too. If those young guys can compete with the Cup guys, they’re better suited for the Cup Series once they get there.”
Larson added, “Yes, I want to smash the field when I run Xfinity. That’s motivating, for sure.”
“When I started Xfinity, there would be 20-25 Cup guys in the field, every week,” Kevin Harvick added. “Dumbing it down for everybody to do it doesn’t make everybody better.”
After winning the Xfinity Series race, Larson also dominated the Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. After running all three races on the weekend, he came up just one position shy of total sweep as he finished 2nd in the NASCAR Truck Series event on Friday.
