Trouble for Kyffin Simpson ahead of the green flag. The crew is unable to get the car started. Josef Newgarden also heads to the pit lane and he’ll start this race from the rear of the field instead of 6th. Colton Herta also has issues.

Race Report
Green flag, Palou and Rahal run side by side into turn one! Rahal noses ahead under braking! He clears him as they exit the corner, Rahal leads!
Rahal is starting this race on a new set of soft tires. Palou is on used tires from qualifying but he still has a new set available.
Lap 7, Marcus Ericsson is off track and in the grass as he gets run into from behind while suffering an engine issue. No caution as he heads for the pit lane.
Lap 21, the first pit cycle is complete. Rahal now leads on the harder tire as Palou trails by three car lengths on the softer tire.
Lap 25, Felix Rosenqvist dives inside of Rinus VeeKay. They make contact and Rosenqvist is around, no caution.
Lap 41, Rahal is trapped behind a lap car with fresher tires. Palou closes in on Rahal just ahead of another round of pit stops.
Lap 42, Rahal and Palou pit together. Rahal wins the race to the pit exit with Palou right on his gearbox.
Lap 43, Colton Herta passes race leader Graham Rahal. Herta just un-lapped himself and he’s hoping for a caution.
Lap 58, Palou has a run on Rahal as Rahal struggles on old tires. Palou is on the push to pass and he dives inside. Palou to the lead!
Lap 59, Palou opens the gap in a hurry. He also puts Herta a lap down once more.
Lap 63, it’s a very slow pit stop for Rahal. He’ll fall off the podium as a result.
Lap 66, Palou pits for the final time. He cycles out with the lead. Pato O’Ward trails by 10 seconds.
16 to go
16 to go, David Malukas is off track and stalled in the grass. The caution is out!
Green with 13 to go, Palou blocks a run from O’Ward into turn one. Palou holds the lead.
9 to go, Palou has opened the gap to O’Ward. He now leads by 2.6 seconds.
5 to go, Palou leads O’Ward by nearly 5 seconds.
