For the first time, Dale Earnhardt Jr is taking the crew chief role

Dale Earnhardt Jr will serve as the crew chief for Connor Zilisch and the No. 88 team.

Dale Jr will remain a part of the broadcast booth for the weekend. He’ll work with the Prime Video team during NASCAR Cup Series coverage.

Regular crew chief Mardy Lindley is serving a 1-race suspension from the race at Nashville Superspeedway. The car was found with missing/loose lugnuts in post-race inspection.

JR Motorsports elected to defer the penalty last week. Lindley was on the pit box for the race in Mexico City. Now, the suspension kicks in for this weekend’s race at Pocono Raceway.

This marks Dale Earnhardt Jr’s first time as a crew chief.
