NASCAR race results from the Roval (Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course)

Today, the NASCAR Cup Series takes the green flag in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 2.32-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway road course stretches over 17 corners. The Bank of America Roval 400 sets the grid for the Round of 8 as four playoff drivers are set to be eliminated.

Stage 1 – Report

Charlotte ROVAL - NASCAR Cup Series

Laps: 25 (1-25/109)

Green flag, Logano clears Byron into turn one.

Penalty: Austin Dillon missed the chicane on lap one. He attempted to stop at the start/finish line but he didn’t come to a complete stop. He’s now been handed a drive through penalty.

Lap 5, Bubba Wallace spins into turn 16. He misses the chicane and comes to a complete stop to serve a penalty. Wallace hits the pit lane with flat spotted tires.

Lap 15, Byron is closing on Logano.

3 to go in stage one, most of the field hits the pit lane. They’ll stay out at the end of the stage.

Laps: 25 (26-50/109)

Logano and the rest of the leaders head for the pit lane. Tyler Reddick cycles to the race lead. Logano restarts 24th as most pitted before the end of stage one.

Green flag on stage two, Reddick clears Allmendinger into turn one.

Lap 31, Reddick dives inside of Reddick in turn 8, he clears him in the banking. Allmendinger throws a block into the chicane and holds the lead.

Lap 39, Gragson and LaJoie both miss the backstretch chicane as they fight for position. Each of them come to a stop to serve a penalty for cutting the course.

Lap 41, Ross Chastain also misses the backstretch chicane. He comes to a full stop as well.

3 to go in stage two, most of the field heads for the pit lane under green. Allmendinger pits from the race lead.

Ross Chastain stays out and he takes the stage two win on the Charlotte Roval.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 59 (51-109/109)

Chastain and the rest of the cars who didn’t pit hit pit lane. Allmendinger cycles back to the lead as Chastain restarts 24th.

Green flag on stage three, Allmendinger and Reddick run side by side into turn one. Reddick drives it deeper into turn one on the outside! Reddick leads Allmendinger into turn two.

They run four wide into the backstretch chicane behind them. Blaney and Briscoe pick up damage.

47 to go, Conor Daly is on the pit lane as he says the center dashboard is catching fire. Daniel Suarez has also lost power steering.

39 to go, Christopher Bell is on the pit lane and he begins the final pit cycle.

36 to go, Reddick pits from the race lead.

32 to go

32 to go, Chase Elliott cycles to the race lead. He pitted several laps ahead of Reddick. Reddick is in 2nd and 3.7 seconds back with fresher tires. Allmendinger is in 3rd with even fresher tires.

26 to go, Suarez hits the pit lane as the crew lifts the hood to add steering fluid.

25 to go, Chastain has a broken rear suspension. He’s way off the pace.

15 to go, Reddick misses the chicane. He’s forced to come to a complete stop to serve a penalty for cutting the course. AJ Allmendinger takes over 2nd.

11 to go, Larson hits the pit lane under green with a broken right rear toe link. The crew goes to work as he drops down the playoff standings.

5 to go

5 to go, caution for debris as a piece of the wall is laying on the track.

Many drivers head for the pit lane. Christopher Bell is the first car to pit, he’ll restart in 12th.

Green, Elliott and Allmendinger run side by side into turn one! They rub fenders in turn three, Allmendinger shoves Elliott off line and takes the lead!

Harvick gets into the bumper of Allmendinger and Harvick takes the lead! Elliott spins with help from Reddick!

Briscoe, Logano and Byron tangle into the backstretch chicane! No caution. Briscoe was turned by Austin Dillon.

2 to go, Harvick leads Reddick by 1.3 seconds. Bell is flying through the field on fresh tires.

Bell dives inside of Reddick to take 2nd away!

Caution as Ty Dillon is stalled on the track.

Green, Harvick and Bell run side by side into turn one. Bell wins the battle! Several cars crash behind them in turn one, no caution.

Austin Cindric spins into the backstretch chicane! No caution.

1 to go, Briscoe drives it deep into the backstretch chicane. He passes two cars and locks himself into the playoffs with that move!
