Two F1 champions are in the field, Kimi Raikkonen and Jenson Button. Jimmie Johnson is making his NASCAR return as Jordan Taylor makes his NASCAR debut. Indycar driver Conor Daly is also a unique entry.
Many drivers were warned about cutting the course through the esses. NASCAR said those laps would be disallowed in qualifying.
Tyler Reddick tops the times sheet for practice. He turned a lap at 132.016 seconds.
