Stage 1 – Report
Laps: 20
Green flag, Larson and Byron run even into turn one and up the hill. Byron gets the launch off turn two and leads down the hill into turn three.
Kurt Busch and Clint Bowyer fight for space through the esses in turn 8. Busch jumps over the curb and into the right rear of Bowyer. Busch has a fender rub but they both continue.
Lap 7, Denny Hamlin is working on Larson for 4th. Hamlin drives it deep to the inside in turn six. Hamlin gets loose on the off camber corner in the Carousel and makes light contact with Larson as he takes the position. Larson is fading.
Lap 10, Byron leads Elliott by 3 seconds.
4 to go in stage 1, Matt DiBenedetto heads for the pit lane. 3 to go, Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Ricky Stenhouse, Ryan Newman, Erik Jones, Austin Dillon and more pit. 2 to go, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex and Kyle Busch head for the pit lane.
McDowell is on the bumper of Jimmie Johnson. Harvick looked to the inside and clipped him in the right rear. McDowell is around, no caution.

Stage 2 – Report
Laps: 20
Twelve cars stayed out in stage one, those and more head for the pit lane. Hamlin wins the race to the pit exit, he’ll restart 16th. Elliott and Truex will lead them to the restart.
Green, Elliott noses ahead but he runs wide into turn one. As he gathers it back in shape, Truex takes the lead up the hill into turn two.
Lap 28, Clint Bowyer heads to the pit lane with a loose wheel.
Lap 30, Aric Almirola is around in turn three. At the front, Truex leads Elliott by 2 seconds.
Lap 33, Paul Menard is around in turn 11. He threw a block on McDowell into the hairpin corner and McDowell couldn’t get on the brakes quick enough.
6 to go in stage one, Hamlin heads to the outside of Suarez in turn 7 and completes the pass. Hamlin is moving forward.
4 to go, Kurt Busch and Erik Jones head for the pits. 3 to go, Blaney, Suarez, DiBenedetto, Bowman, Bowyer, Dillon, Harvick, Johnson and more head for the pits.
2 to go, Truex pits from the lead. Elliott and Kyle Busch pit as well. This hands the lead to Denny Hamlin.
Denny Hamlin takes the win in stage two!

Stage 3 – Report
Laps: 50
10 cars stayed out in stage two, those and more head for the pits. Hamlin wins the race off the pit lane but he’ll restart 23rd. Martin Truex and Chase Elliott will lead them to the restart.
Green flag on stage three, Truex and Elliott are even at the line. Truex runs Elliott wide into turn one.
Truex leads up the hill but he dips his right side in the dirt. Elliott makes light contact with his rear bumper. Blaney works to the outside of Elliott as he checks up. Truex leads into turn three.
Lap 46, Elliott works Blaney to reclaim 2nd. Truex leads by a second.
Lap 48, Busch puts the bumper to Ryan Blaney into turn four. He takes the 3rd position.
“My fault. I’m an idiot,” Kyle Busch radio.
Lap 52, Busch is on the bumper of Chase Elliott for 2nd. He looks to the inside into turn 7, an out braking move and he takes the position.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr looks to the inside of Preece into turn 11. Preece comes down across his nose and Preece is around, no caution.
Lap 53, McDowell is around in turn 10. No caution as he heads to the pit lane.
33 to go, Martin Truex Jr leads Kyle Busch by 2.3 seconds.
30 to go
30 to go, William Byron and Ricky Stenhouse head to the pit lane under green.
29 to go, Logano pits. Elliott heads for the pits as well with an issue, he has no power and the hood is up. Elliott was running 4th. His chances to win are now gone as the team pushes the car to the garage.
28 to go, Harvick, Johnson, Kurt Busch, Larson, DiBenedetto and others pit.
26 to go, Busch has cut the gap to the leader to just 1 second. Truex pits for the lead and Kyle Busch stays out.
Penalty: Suarez had an uncontrolled tire and he’ll serve a pass through penalty
23 to go
23 to go, Kyle Busch heads for the pits. Hamlin pits as well. This hands the lead back to Martin Truex Jr. Truex leads Kyle Busch by 8 seconds.
17 to go, Kyle Busch has cut the gap to 3.7 seconds. We got a race!
15 to go, Kyle Busch is running about a half second a lap quicker than the race leader. His tires are only 3 laps newer. Joey Logano heads to the pit lane with battery issues.
13 to go, Truex leads Busch by 1.7 seconds.
10 to go, the gap is down to 1.5 seconds. Ryan Blaney runs 3rd, he’s 20 seconds behind.
6 to go, McDowell and Ty Dillon run side by side ahead of the leader. Truex picks one of them off into turn four. Truex leads Busch by 1 second.
McDowell leaves the inside open in turn 11 and Truex is through. McDowell checks up into turn three to let Busch by as well. Truex leads by 1.6 seconds.
2 to go, Bubba Wallace runs wide in turn four, just ahead of the leader. Truex and Busch work by him. The gap is 1 second.
Martin Truex Jr holds him off and takes the win at Sonoma Raceway!
