Battle at the Border
Main Event
Laps: 30
Ricky Weiss and Chris Madden will set the front row for the main event followed the redraw. The field lines up in a four wide salute for the New Mexico dirt racing fans. 30 laps of dirt late model racing are up next.
Green flag, they run even into turn one. Weiss noses ahead off turn two. Weiss drives it hard to the bottom in turn three and washes up the track.
Madden is forced wide as Brandon Sheppard comes into the picutre. Chris Madden drives around Weiss on the outside.
Lap 5, Weiss and Sheppard run side by side for 2nd. They remain even for several laps. Madden leads by two car lengths. Weiss holds 2nd on the top.
Lap 8, Weiss closes on Madden. The leaders approach lap traffic.
Lap 10, Weiss takes the lead by a hair at the line. He’s trapped behind lap cars on the bottom. Madden powers back to the lead on the outside.
Lap 15, Madden leads Weiss by 6 car lengths. Sheppard remains on the bumper of Weiss.
Sheppard takes over 2nd. Scott Bloomquist takes Weiss and Marlar three wide for 3rd. Bloomquist to 3rd.
5 to go, Madden leads Sheppard by five car lengths.
2 to go, Madden works lap traffic as Sheppard closes.
Final lap, Madden makes contact with the lap car but Sheppard can’t get there.
