Green flag, Andretti gets the jump as Dixon in behind him down the front stretch. Dixon pulls out of line, looks to the outside and clears him into turn one. Scott Dixon leads lap 1.

Lap 3, Ed Carpenter is on the pit lane after he was stuffed into the outside wall, no caution.

Lap 6, the right front n the James Davison machine has caught fire! He comes to a stop and the caution is out.

Green, Dixon leads Ryan Hunter-Reay into turn one.

Lap 25

Lap 25, Marcus Ericsson is in the wall and the caution is out.

The field heads to the pit lane. Dixon is first on and first off. Askew and Pagenaud lead them to the restart. Dixon restarts outside the top 5.

Green, Pagenaud has a run into turn one. On the outside, he takes the lead.

Lap 48, Pagenaud and others pit. Dixon cyles back to the lead. Rossi trails him by 1.2 seconds.

Lap 62, Dixon to the pits. Slow stop for Rossi.

Lap 68, Dixon cycles back to the lead. Askew trails by 4 seconds.

Lap 85, Dalton Kellett is in the wall and the caution is out.

The field heads to the pits. Dixon wins the race to the pit exit, Sato 2nd.

Green, big crash off turn four! Oliver Askew and Conor Daly are collected. Daly lost it off turn four on his own. Askew was then sent toward the infield wall after getting lost in the smoke. Askew slammed the inside wall hard. The ambulance waits for him.

Lap 100

Halfway: 1. Dixon; 2. Sato; 3. Rossi; 4. O’Ward; 5. Newgarden; 6. Andretti; 7. Ferrucci; 8. Rahal; 9. Herta; 10. Hunter-Reay;

Green, Dixon leads. Rossi looks inside of Sato into turn one and he takes 2nd.

Lap 104, Rossi has a run on Dixon as they head into turn one. Dixon snakes across the track to break the draft. Dixon holds the lead.

Lap 106, Rossi has a run. He looks to the inside of Dixon into turn one, clear. Rossi leads.

Lap 108, Dixon has a run on Rossi down the front stretch. He looks to the inside, clear. Dixon back to the lead.

Lap 109, Rossi has a run down the front stretch. Rossi retakes the lead into turn one.

Lap 110, they swap the lead once again into turn one. Dixon leads.

Lap 112, Rossi to the lead. They still can’t decide it.

Lap 113, Dixon to the lead. Each of them just focus the lap on getting the draft off turn four.

Lap 114, Rossi to the lead.

Lap 114, Dixon to the lead. Lead change after lead change at the front.

Lap 118, Rossi to the lead.

Lap 121, Dixon to the lead. These two are in a race of their own.

Lap 122

Lap 122, Rossi to the lead. Crash behind them! Alex Palou is in the wall and the caution is out.

The field heads to the pit lane. Dixon wins the race to the pit exit. Sato and Rossi make contact on the pit lane. Rossi swiped him leaving his stall. Pato O’Ward is off 2nd. Rosenqvist stays out.

Penalty: Rossi will go to the tail of the field for an unsafe pit release.

Green, Dixon has a run on Resenqvist into turn one. Dixon clears him into turn one and retakes the lead.

Rossi is three wide and coming back to the front! He just passed 10 cars in one corner on the restart.

Lap 144, Rossi is in the wall! He clipped the apron and just lost it before slamming the outside wall. The caution is out.

Green, Dixon leads Sato. Rahal and Newgarden run side bu side for 3rd.

Lap 157, Sato has a run on Dixon into turn. He pulls out of the draft, Sato to the lead in turn one.

Lap 169, Sato heads to the pits. A lap later, Dixon heads for the pit lane. Dixon makes the pass during the pit stop!

Lap 173, Sato has a run on Dixon into turn one. He looks inside, clear. Sato takes the spot. For now, this is the battle for 3rd.

Veach and Chilton have pit. Sato cycles back to the lead.

15 to go

15 to go, Dixon has a run into turn one. Sato blocks it at the last second and he holds the lead.

10 to go, Sato is opening the gap slightly. Dixon trails by 1 second.

7 to go, Sato has caught heavy lap traffic! Dixon is closing.

5 to go, Sato clears the first lapper. He opens the gap back up.

5 to go, big crash! Spencer Pigot spun off turn four and slammed the endplate tire barrier at the entry to the pit lane. Pigot is helped from the car by the medical team but appears to be ok.

The one will finish under yellow. Takuma Sato is the 2020 Indy 500 winner!
