Starting positions are set for the first NASCAR race of the 2021 season
On Tuesday night, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series are set to unload for the first race of the 2021 season. The Clash at Daytona will be a night race on the Road Course of Daytona International Speedway.

The Clash at Daytona is a non-points event. It’s means next to nothing as drivers are just out there to collect a trophy. The field features on 21 cars this year.
Clash Eligibility: 2020 Busch Pole Award winners; Busch Clash winners, Daytona 500 race winners, Daytona 500 pole winners (who ran full time in 2020); 2020 NASCAR Cup Series playoff drivers; 2020 NASCAR Cup Series race winners; and all 2020 NASCAR Cup Series stage winners.
Additionally, new for 2021, the race is run on NASCAR’s version of the Daytona Road Course. The race was previously run on the 2.5-mile oval in Daytona Beach, Florida.
It’s similar to the IMSA road course. However an added chicane is implemented just before the start finish line, adding two new corners.
Things to look out for: Erik Jones is set to make his debut in the No. 43 machine. Ty Dillon will run the event in the 23XI Racing machine as the team enters their first event. Alex Bowman is making his debut in the No. 48 after Johnson’s retirement at the end of 2020.
The Clash starting positions are now set. Officials set the order via a random draw done live via the Daytona International Speedway facebook page.
Ryan Blaney will start from the pole position. Alex Bowman will complete the front row.
