Stage one will end on lap 16. Stage two ends on lap 34. The race will conclude at the 70 lap mark.

The field is already set for this weekend’s race on the Daytona Road Course. Chase Elliott will start from the pole positions. Michael McDowell will complete the front row.

The track has been modified slightly since The Clash event last week. Concrete has been laid in the bus stop on the back stretch. It extends the run off area over the turtles to prevent grass and dirt from finding the racing surface.

How they set the cup lineup for Daytona

There’s no qualifying or practice sessions this weekend. Only 8 races in 2021 are scheduled with practice and qualifying. Instead, the field has been set via a weighted system with multiple factors at play.

NASCAR’s metrics formula for 2021:

25 percent: Driver’s finishing position from the previous race.

25 percent: Car owner’s finishing position from the previous race.

35 percent: Team owner points ranking.

15 percent: Fastest lap from the previous race.
