NASCAR Truck Series results from Texas Motor Speedway

Today, the NASCAR Truck Series kicks off the triple-header race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. It’s All-Star weekend in Fort Worth, Texas and the SpeedyCash.com 220 will get things rolling.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 35 (1-35 / 147)

John Hunter Nemechek, Ben Rhodes - Texas Motor Speedway - NASCAR Truck Series 2

Green flag, Rhodes and Nemechek run side by side into tur one and off turn two. Back in turn one, Nemechek drives it deep to the bottom and clears Rhodes but he can’t hold it on the bottom. Nemechek washes up and Rhodes has another look on the inside. Nemechek holds him off via the outside lane in turn three.

Lap 7, Sheldon Creed gets loose on the inside of turn one. He washes up the banking and catches the traction compound in the outside lane. The traction compound isn’t hot yet, it’s slick and Creed is sent for a loop. Creed backs in into the fence, caution.

Matt Crafton has lost power under caution. He hits the pit lane and the team gets the battery fixed.

Green, Rhodes and Nemechek run even into turn one and off turn two. Nemechek throws a huge block on Austin Hill done the back. That shoves Nemechek into turn three and he’s clear on the bottom.

Lap 22

Lap 22, the caution is out as Creed spins in the traction compound, again.

Zane Smith pits from inside the top 10 and brings many with him.

Green, Nemechek is clear into turn one with a big push from Austin Hill.

3 to go in stage one, caution as Ray Ciccarelli comes to a stop.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 35 (36-70 / 147)

Nemechek leads the leaders to the pit lane. 9 trucks stay out as they pitted just laps ago. Todd Gilliland and Chase Elliott take over at the front.

Green, Gilliland is clear into turn one. Elliott and Tanner Gray run side by side for 2nd, Gray wins that battle on the outside of turn three. Elliott quickly retakes that spot.

Lap 45, Elliott has a run on Gilliland into turn one. He looks to the inside. Gilliland nearly shuts the door but he leaves the bottom lane open at the last second, Elliott drives under him and to the lead.

Lap 52

Lap 52, Stewart Friesen pinches Carson Hocevar up the track into turn three. But, Hocevar is already there and Friesen is sent spinning. He catches the inside wall and the caution is out.

Green, Elliott and Gray run side by side into turn one. Elliott washes up on the outside and Gray takes over the lead on the inside lane.

Lap 62, Jennifer Jo Cobb stalls and the caution is out.

Elliott hits the pit lane from the race lead. Gray becomes the new leader.

Green, Zane Smith and Tanner Gray run side by side. Kraus looks to the inside to make it a three wide battle for the lead into turn one, he lifts. Zane Smith takes over the lead on the inside.

2 to go in stage two, Drew Dollar gets loose on the inside of turn one. He backs it into the fence and the caution is back out.

Zane Smith wins stage two under caution.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 64 (71-147 / 147)

Smith leads the leaders to the pit lane. Most of the field stays out as they pitted just a few laps prior. Ross Chastain is handed the lead.

Green, Elliott gets a push from Nemechek into turn one. Elliott is clear and returns to the lead.

Lap 80, Nemechek throws a big side draft on Chastain into turn three. He pulls him back, dives to the inside and clears him to take 2nd.

41 to go

41 to go, Nemechek is exploring the traction compound and he’s running down the race leader in the process.

39 to go, Elliott pits from the race lead. Nemechek stays out as he has clear race track.

28 to go, Nemechek pits from the race lead. Several trucks have yet to pit.

16 to go, Nemechek has cycled back to the lead. Elliott trails by 2 seconds. With newer tires, Nemechek opens the gap.

Ben Rhodes has caught the wall and suffered a blown tire. He pits under green, no caution.
