Today, it’s the REV Group Grand Prix for the NTT Indycar Series. The field is set for the 4.048-mile road course of Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Josef Newgarden, Jack Harvey - Road America - Indycar Series

Green flag, Newgarden blocks the inside lane on the trek into turn one. Harvey cuts to the outside and pulls even under braking. Harvey wiggles on the outside lane through turn one and Newgarden clears him.

Kevin Magnussen is off track. He throws up a cloud of dust but finds the pavement and keeps it rolling without damage.

Lap 10, Newgarden leads Harvey by 5 seconds.

Lap 13, pit stops are underway. Harvey pits from 2nd and he changes from soft red tires to the harder black tires. Power has a run on Harvey as he exits the pits on cold tires. Power takes the spot as he pitted laps earlier.

Lap 14, Newgarden hits the pit lane. He also switches from reds to blacks.

Lap 15, Newgarden cycles back to the race lead. Palou has taken over 2nd but Newgarden leads by 7 seconds.

Lap 16, Jimmie Johnson runs wide off turn seven. He jumps the curb and spins through the grass. They’re able to re-fire his machine but the caution is out.

Green, Newgarden leads Palou into turn one.

Lap 23

Lap 23, Marcus Ericsson clips the grass. He over corrects and spins across the track. As he stalls, the caution is out.

Magnussen and Sato stay out. Everyone else hits the pit lane.

Green, Magnussen leads Sato into turn one. Palou looks to the outside of Newgarden into turn five. Newgarden defends and holds the spot.

Sato works by Magnussen to take the race lead.

Lap 31, Magnussen hits the pits. Newgarden throws a block on Palou into turn one.

Lap 33, Sato hits the pit lane. Newgarden is handed the lead.

Lap 34

Lap 34, Kevin Magnussen has pulled off track with a mechanical issue. The caution is out.

Jack Harvey, Askew and Pagenaud hit the pit lane. Harvey was running 7th.

Green, Newgarden leads Palou and Herta into turn one. Will Power drops his left sides off the track but he throws a block on Grosjean to hold 5th.

Lap 41, Newgarden hits the pit lane for the final time. He exits the pit lane in 15th. Palou is handed the race lead.

Lap 42, Palou hits the pits. He cycles out behind Newgarden.

10 to go

10 to go, Max Chilton leads Sato and Askew. All three have one more pit stop ahead. Newgarden runs 4th.

9 to go, Grosjean has a run on Harvey for 9th into turn one. He looks to the outside and outbrakes him by a car length at corner entry. Grosjean makes it work on the outside. That will be a battle for 6th at the end of the pit cycle.

7 to go, Chilton and Sato pit. Askew leads but he’ll pit shortly. He’s hoping for rain, which is in the area.

6 to go, Palou trails Newgarden by 5 car lengths. However, he’s just made a rollbar adjustment.

4 to go, Askew hits the pit lane. Newgarden has been handed the lead. Seconds later, Ed Jones spins with a mechanical issue, stalls and the caution is out.

Green, Newgarden leads Palou up the hill. Newgarden has a power issue down the hill toward turn one! Palou looks to the outside into turn one and drives right by to take the lead.

Newgarden is dropping through the field! Major mechanical issues on that machine.

1 to go, Palou leads Herta by 1.8 seconds.
