The green is out and everybody hits the track at once. This will be an installation lap.
1 hour and 5 minutes remain, Callum IIott stalls his car leaving the pit lane.
1 hour remain, Jimmie Johnson sits 3rd of the 11 drivers to set a time so far. This is a track that Johnson has tested at.
56 minutes remain, the times are dropping fast as the track gets cleaned off. The track is packed with cars. Felix Rosenqvist leads with a 59.4874.
53 minutes remain, Scott Dixon spins. He chased the steering in turn two and drops a wheel in turn six. He spun back across the track but kept it rolling, no damage.
48 minutes remain, Scott McLaughlin clips the curb and spins through the grass in turn one, no damage.
45 minutes remain, Max Chilton spins, stalls and the caution is out.
Alexander Rossi drops a wheel but keeps it rolling.
38 minutes remain, Alex Palou runs wide and spins through the grass. He comes to a stop in the tire barrier with very light contact. The caution is back out.

Takuma Sato suffered a mechanical failure on his install lap. He won’t get a lap in during this session.
32 minutes remain, Conor Daly is off track in the final corner. He drives through the grass and re-enters the track.
20 minutes remain, O’Ward sits at the top of the board with a 58.8933.
19 minutes remain, Jimmie Johnson is out on softer red tires. He locks up, blows the final corner and catches the grass slightly. He stays on track but two laps are ruined. As he gets back in it to complete a lap, he jumps to 22nd.
14 minutes remain, Scott Dixon has just been penalized for “failing to listen to Indycar.”
11 minutes remain, Scott McLaughlin is off track in the final corner! He’s nose first in the tire barrier and the caution is out. Minimal contact but the front wing is gone.
