NASCAR results from Monday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway

The NASCAR Cup Series is set for the green on a Monday in Talladega, Alabama. It’s the Yallawood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

This race was scheduled for Sunday but rain has pushed it to Monday afternoon. It’s race two of three in the Round of 12 of the NASCAR Playoffs.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 60 (1-60 / 188)

Green flag, Elliott pushes Kyle Busch clear on the inside lane.

Lap 6, Denny Hamlin pulls out of line and drops to the back on purpose.

Lap 7, the Fords have lined up on the outside. Logano pushes Harvick to the lead.

Lap 12, Matt DiBenedetto leads a train on the inside. He takes over the lead as they field three wide behind him.

Lap 16, Kyle Larson cuts out of line on the top. He catches the bumper of Bubba Wallace and Larson is pushed to the lead.

Lap 22, Cole Custer leads with a push from Harvick on the inside.

Competition caution

Lap 26, the competition caution is out. The field hits the pit lane. Harvick wins the race to the pit exit.

Green, Harvick and Truex Jr run side by side for the lead off turn two. Kurt Busch pushes Truex Jr to the lead. Kurt Busch abandons his bumper and takes the lead.

Lap 34, Harvick works inside of Kurt Busch and hangs him out to dry. Harvick to the lead.

Lap 40, Denny Hamlin cycles back to the race lead after dropping to the back earlier.

Lap 50, the field has formed single file around the outside lane. Keselowski pulls the train around the track.

8 to go in stage one, two lines have formed. Keselowski drops to the bottom with Buescher on his bumper.

7 to go, Keselowski gets bump drafted off the bottom. Chris Buescher is handed the lead.

4 to go, Justin Allgaier spins through the tri-oval after a bump draft from William Byron! He slams into the door of Kyle Larson.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 60 (61-120 / 188)

Buescher leads the field to the pit lane. Harvick wins the race to the pit exit. However, Harvick has a flat left rear after the stop. He’ll go to the tail after another pit stop and hand the lead to Logano.

Green flag on stage two, Logano leads on the inside with a push from Keselowski.

Lap 67, Kyle Larson has met minimum speed. However, moments later, he blows the right front tire. Debris is all over the track and the caution is out.

Just 1 lap before the restart and the entire field hits the pit lane to top off on fuel.

Rain

Lap 74, rain has started to fall. the red flag is out.

About 30 minutes later, the cars are rolling. Most the field hits for the pit lane once again, fuel only. Justin Haley is handed the race lead.

Green, Haley leads on the inside lane.

Lap 80, Bell pushes Buescher clear on the outside. Buescher drops to the bottom to lead the inside lane. Bell stays on the top and Harvick pushes Bell to the lead.

Lap 83, the entire field runs single file around the outside lane. Bell leads the train.

Lap 84, they’re building momentum around the bottom. Hamlin drops to the bottom to lead that line. Hamlin to the lead.

Lap 87, Harvick pushes Bell back to the lead on the outside. They both drop to the bottom to lead on the inside.

Lap 90, Harvick leads with Bowman on his bumper.

Lap 93, Harvick throws a block on the third lane. They all lose momentum. Bell leads Hamlin on the inside.

Crash

Lap 98, a bump draft from Ricky Stenhouse Jr turns Alex Bowman into the outside wall into turn three! Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, Tyler Reddick, Ross Chastain and others are collected. The caution is out.

Green, Bell leads on the inside lane. Stenhouse Jr sidedrafts to pull back even and take the lead.

10 to go in stage two, Kurt Busch leads on the inside lane.

8 to go, Bubba Wallace gets a shove from Brad Keselowski on the outside lane. He drops to the bottom to take over the lead.

6 to go, Keselowski has a run on the outside lane. Wallace jumps to the top and throws a huge block.

5 to go, Preece gets turned following a bump draft from Buescher. He slams the outside wall. As he spins he collects William Byron and Matt DiBenedetto.

3 to go in stage two, the rain has begun to fall. NASCAR has thrown the red flag and the cars head to the pit lane.

About an hour later, NASCAR has called the race. Bubba Wallace wins at Talladega Superspeedway!
