Tonight, the Chili Bowl Nationals opens with a special event feature in addition to the regular show. The VIROC race sets champions from various forms of motorsports, in one field of cars. This Race of Champions feature is unrelated to the regular Chili Bowl points structure.

Daily Chili Bowl Nationals Schedule
The VIROC race means nothing to the overall points gatherings for the Chili Bowl Nationals. It’s a star filled race for the fans. However, the winner of this race is guaranteed a starting spot in Saturday’s A-Main.

Feature – Report
Green, they run near even into turn one. Grant takes the lead on the cushion off turn two.
Lap 3, most of the field knocks the cushion early in this race.
Lap 6, Tanner Thorson and Rico Abreu trade sliders for 8th. Thorson finally completes the pass.
Lap 9, Bell makes light contact with the wall as he charges to the front.
Lap 11, Buddy Kofoid flips from 3rd and the caution is out. Kofoid climbs from his car and throws his hands in the air at Sammy Swindell.
Green, Grant leads Seavey into turn one. McInotsh slides Seavey for 2nd but the caution is out as Brad Sweet spins behind them.
Green, Grant leads as McIntosh slides Seavey for 2nd once more. Seavey slides him back. As they battle, Kyle Larson drives by them both, Larson to 2nd.
Lap 14, Logan Seavey and Cannon McIntosh slow, the caution is out.
Green, Grant leads Larson into turn one. Larson tries to slide him but can’t complete the pass.
10 to go, Bell slides Thorson for 3rd. Thorson slides him back. Bell once more and Bell holds the spot.
7 to go, Grant leads Larson by 10 car lengths. Larson is moving around and searching.
5 to go, Larson closes to within a car length.
4 to go, Larson looks for a slider but he can’t get there.
3 to go, Larson slides once more. He pulls even but can;t complete the pass on the bottom. Bell is closing on both of them.
1 to go, Larson drives it deep into turn one. He nearly gets him. Final time into turn three, Larson drives it deep to the bottom once more. They nearly touch off turn four!
