NASCAR heat races set the starting grid for tonight’s race
First up, the NASCAR Truck Series is set for four heat races on the Bristol Dirt Track. These races will be used to set the starting lineup for tonight’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bristol Dirt Format
-There will be four heat races in the Cup Series and Truck Series. Each heat race is 15 laps in distance with the starting lineup of the heats set by owner points and a random draw.
-Passing points are in play for the heat races. For every position gained from the start of the race, drivers earn 1 additional point. The top 10 at the end of each heat are given points with the race winner earning 10 and 10th earning 1.
-The driver with the most points after the heats will be awarded the pole award for the feature event. Tie-breakers are set via owner points.
Heat 1
Race Report
Laps: 15
Austin Dillon and Tanner Gray set the front row for the first heat race of the night. They roll to the starting line.
Green flag, they run side by side into turn one. Dillon clears him via the inside off turn two.
Lap 2, Buddy Kofoid is climbing to the front in a hurry! He’s up to 4th already.
Lap 9, Tanner Gray has water flowing out of the hood as dirt has covered the grill. He pulls to the pit lane for 2nd!
Lap 11, Buddy Kofoid has the same overheating issue with mud covering the grill. He also pulls in, he was running 4th.
Austin Dillon wins heat race 1 at Bristol Motor Speedway!

Race Report

Ty Majeski and Tyler Ankrum line up on the front row.
Green flag, Majeski is clear into turn one. Hocevar drives it deep into turn one and takes over 2nd.
Lap 3, Zane Smith and Tate Fogleman run side by side for 5th. Smith runs him wide but they remain side by side. laps later, Fogleman finally clears him via the outside lane.
Lap 10, Majeski runs right around the inside lane. Hocevar trails by three truck lengths and he runs a lane higher than the leader. He’s closing slightly.

Race Report

Kaz Grala and Grant Enfinger roll through turn four. Hailie Deegan was scheduled to start 4th but she’ll start at the tail with a backup truck.
Green flag, Enfinger leads into turn one. Joey Logano takes 2nd away.
Lap 2, they run three wide and bang doors at the back of the field.
Lap 4, Hailie Deegan works to the outside of Norm Benning for 6th. Matt DiBenedetto dives inside of both of them. Three wide, Benning lifts and Deegan rolls to 6th after starting last.
Lap 5, Logano is all over the bumper of Enfinger for the lead.
Lap 7, Hailie Deegan spins on her own and the caution is out.
Green, Enfinger and Logano run side by side into turn one! Logano noses ahead off turn two on the top. He clears him and drops to the bottom in turn three to take the line away.
2 to go, Rhodes looks to the outside of Enfinger. He pulls even as they take the white flag. Rhodes gets him for 2nd at the line.
At the front, Joey Logano wins heat 3 at Bristol Motor Speedway!

Dean Thompson and Chandler Smith roll side by side to the flagstand.
Green flag, they run side by side into turn one. Chandler Smith wins the battle via the outside lane. Chase Elliott follows him through on the outside to take 2nd away.
Lap 2, Smith runs the middle lane. Elliott moves a lane higher and he’s looking for the lead.
Lap 9, Elliott leans on the rear bumper of Smith for the lead. Derek Kraus is closing on both of them.
Lap 10, Smith moves up a lane to block. Elliott looks to the inside but he can’t make it work.
Chandler Smith wins the final heat race at Bristol Motor Speedway!
