Sonoma Race Results: June 11, 2022 (NASCAR Truck Series)

NASCAR race results from Sonoma Raceway

Today, the NASCAR Truck Series opens the race weekend in Sonoma, California. It’s the DoorDash 250 at Sonoma Raceway, the first Truck race at the track since 1998.

Carson Hocevar grabbed the pole position. However, he crashed after setting his qualifying time. The team has repaired the truck and he drops to the rear of the field. Hocevar is also injured with a broken leg after a crash last week, Daniel Suarez is on standby.

Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain move to the front row. 75 laps of road course racing are up next…

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 20 (1-20 / 75)

Green, Chastain gets the jump on the inside and he’s clear into turn one.

Lap 5, Ross Chastain spins from 8th in turn 7. He falls all the way to 20th.

Lap 12, Carson Hocevar has climbed from the tail of the field to 23rd. However, he huts the pit lane under green, Hocevar is coming out as Suarez jumps behind the wheel. Suarez heads for the track 2 laps down.

5 to go in stage one, Kyle Busch is closing on Chastain. The gap is 1.3 seconds.

4 to go, Chastain pits from the race lead. He brushes the wall as he comes in hot.

3 to go, Kyle Busch pits from the race lead as Alex Bowman follows him in. Ty Majeski is handed the lead.

1 to go, Tyler Ankrum is on the bumper of Majeski in the battle for the lead. Majeski throws a huge block into turn four. He misses the braking zone in turn 7! Ankrum works inside and the run side by side through the esses, Majeski holds him off.

Ty Majeski wins stage one at Sonoma Raceway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 25 (21-45 / 75)

Ty Majeski and the rest of the field head for the pit lane. Chastain, Busch, Bowman and Friesen stay out as they pitted late in stage one.

Pit penalties: DiBenedetto and Deegan drop to the rear.

Green flag on stage two, Chastain clears Busch into turn one. Enfinger is around in turn 7 from 7th, no caution.

Kyle Busch closes on Chastain into turn 11 under braking. Chastain locks up the tires and runs wide, Kyle Busch takes over the lead.

Lap 27, John Hunter Nemechek and Christian Eckes make contact in the esses. Eckes is off track and in the wall, caution.

Suarez is now back on the lead lap.

Green, Kyle Busch gets the jump and he’s clear into turn one.

Lap 37, Matt Crafton gets turned by Todd Bodine into turn 7, no caution.

Lap 40, Tyler Ankrum has climbed to the bumper of Chastain in the battle for 2nd. Ankrum pushes him off turn two and Chastain lifts to give him the spot into turn three.

3 to go in stage two, many trucks head for the pit lane.

2 to go in stage two, Kyle Busch pits from the race lead. Bowman, Chastain, Ankrum and others follow.

Ben Rhodes stays out and he cruises to the win in stage two!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 30 (46-75 / 75)

Rhodes leads the rest of the field to the pit lane. Kyle Busch and many others stay out as the pitted late in stage two, Busch cycles back to the lead. Rhodes restarts 17th.

Pit penalty: Ankrum and Bodine drop to the rear.

Green flag on stage three, Kyle Busch clears Chastain into turn one.

20 to go, Busch leads Chastain by 1 second. Tyler Ankrum has climbed to 24th after the penalty at the start of the stage.

15 to go

15 to go, Matt DiBenedetto looks inside of Stewart Friesen in turn 11. Friesen throws a block and DiBenedetto clips the tires and Chastain. The caution is out.

Kyle Busch and most of the leaders hit the pit lane. Rhodes, Kraus and Purdy stay out. Kyle Busch wins the race to the pit exit with four new tires.

Green, Rhodes leads into turn two. Busch and Kraus run side by side for 2nd. Busch has a run on Rhodes into turn 7. Rhodes locks up, misses the turn and Kyle Busch returns to the lead. Derek Kraus gets turn behind them, no caution.

10 to go

10 to go, Hailie Deegan is in the wall and off track with a flat tire, caution.

Green with 7 to go, Kyle Busch is clear into turn one. Chandler Smith takes over 2nd as Ty Majeski runs three wide to take 3rd away.

6 to go, Daniel Suarez has climbed from 2 laps down and he’s up to 5th!

5 to go, big crash in turn 1! Josh Bilicki cleared himself on Friesen. He bounced off the inside and outside wall. Alex Bowman is also collected. The caution is out.

Green flag with 2 laps to go, Kyle Busch is clear into turn one. Zane Smith dives inside of Chandler Smith for 2nd in turn 7.

1 to go, Busch leads Zane Smith by 1.2 seconds.
