Dover International Speedway results featuring the NASCAR Xfinity Series on May 5, 2018

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes to the 1-mile concrete oval in Dover Delaware. Dover International Speedway, paved in 1995, is the oldest racing surface on the schedule.

It’s a Joe Gibbs Racing lockout at the front row. Brandon Jones and Noah Gragson will lead them to the green. Christopher Bell failed to make a qualifying lap after inspection issues, he’ll start at the tail.

Stage 1 – Report

Green flag, Gragson might have spun his tires on the start. The outside lane sweeps by at the flagstand. Gragson aims for the bottom in turn 3, he washes up the hill and loses more positions.

Lap 2, the caution is out. Matt Tifft was under Ryan Truex just behind Gragson. The air was removed from the spoiler, the back in stepped out and Tifft drove backwards up the hill. No contact, he’ll continue.

Green, Jones gets the jump on the outside. Sadler got a decent launch on the bottom but Gragson powers around on the outside to take 2nd. Gragson washes up the hill again in turn 3, Sadler drives back under him for 2nd.

Sadler is running down the leader. He runs high in 3-4, cuts down the hill and gets a run to the inside of Jones into turn 1, Jones holds the position off turn 2. The next lap, Sadler looks to the high side in turns 1-2, Jones wiggles on the bottom. That allows Sadler to get a fender on him. Sadler completes the pass down the back stretch, new leader.

Lap 30, car in the wall in turn 4. Josh Bilicki suffered a mechanical failure on the rear end, he was sent to the wall.

10 lap shootout to the conclusion of stage 1. Green, Justin Allgaier gives a big push to Elliott Sadler. They had off first and 2nd into turn 1.

Elliott Sadler wins stage 1 at Dover.

Stage 2 – Report

Elliott Sadler is the first car on pit road, he’s the second car at the exit. Tyler Reddick wins the race off pit road. Majeski and Tifft stay out.

Green, Majeski cannot get going. They run 4 wide to get by him. Majeski has a problem, he missed a shift and now he’s on pit road. Sadler was stuck behind Majeski as that took place. Reddick makes quick work of Tifft.

Lap 60, Reddick leads Allgaier by 0.7 seconds. But, Allgaier is charging.

Allgaier takes the lead from his JR Motorsports teammate.

13 to go in stage 2, Gragson and Custer stack up the field at the start finish line. There rolling but at a reduced rate into turn 1. Ryan Reed is on the charge, full throttle, he jumps to the outside of both of them, 3 wide in turn 1. Gragson runs him up the track and into the wall, he didn’t know there was a car on his outside.

At the same time, Kaz Grala is in the wall at the other end of the track. The rear end broke under braking and he snapped into the wall.

“Oh yeah! Fantastic!,” Kaz Grala radio.

Sadler takes a gamble. He hits the pit lane with Noah Gragson. Most cars stayed out. Sadler restarts 18th.

It’s another short shootout to the conclusion of stage 2. Green, Allgaier wins the race into turn 1 on the outside line.

Allgaier wins stage 2 over Tyler Reddick by 0.6 seconds.

Stage 3 – Report

Allgaier wins the race off pit road. However, Jones, Gragson, Sadler and a few others will lead them back to the green. Allgaier restarts 8th, the first car with fresh tires

Green, Brandon Jones wins the battle into turn 3. Allgaier is checking them off two at a time, he’s 3 wide through the entirety of turns 1-2. Allgaier runs 4th before turn 3.

Sadler has a run off turn 4. Jones tried to close the door, too late. Sadler sweeps around on the outside to take the lead. However, Allgaier is all over Sadler’s bumper with just a few laps fresher tires.

Nemechek looked 3 wide to the inside of Austin Cindric in turn 1. They ran out of room and Cindric holds the position. In turn 3, Cindric pumps the brakes to give Nemechek the inside, he then hooks him the right rear as he goes by on the inside. Nemechek slides up the hill and makes light contact with the wall.

Trouble for Noah Gragson on pit road. The crew has to attempt to jack the car multiple times on the left side.

67 to go, Green flag, Sadler and Allgiaer are even into turn 1. Allgaier wins the race off turn 2 from the outside.

57 to go, the 7th yellow flag of the day. Alex Labbe was running 21st. When he got around Ryan Reed, he ran him a bit wide off turn 3. Reed dives it into turn 3, taps his rear bumper and Labbe went around. Things have gotten worse for Labbe as the tire has come apart and ripped the fenders off on his route to the pit lane.

Green, Allgaier gets the jump. He leads by a car lengths into turn 1.

32 to go, more issues for Majeski and Ryan Sieg make contact in turn 3. Lupton comes into the scene with nowhere to go but into the side of Majeski. The caution is out.

Green, Allgaier has checked out. For 5th on back, they’re 3 wide, 3 deep. Pack racing at Dover.

15 to go, Elliott Sadler is all over the back of his teammate and the $100,000 Dash for Cash bonus. Both of these drivers are eligible for the bonus. Sadler has won the last two Dash for Cash bonuses.

7 to go, Allgaier catches lap traffic off turn 4. Sadler looks to the outside, they rub fenders. Sadler is held up by the lapper, Elliott though about making it 3 wide.

1 to go, Allgaier is catching more lappers. Sadler is there. He’s 2 car lengths back heading into turn 3. He dives it in on the bottom, even with Allgaier but he’s not going to be able to hold it. Sadler slides up the hill and into Allgaier. They both bounce off the outside wall coming to the line.

Allgaier wins at Dover International Speedway!
