Tonight, it’s the first of back-to-back full program nights of dirt racing in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has unloaded at the 3/8-mile of Tri-City Speedway.

Heat 1 – Report
Tyler Erb and Chris Simpson set the front row in the first heat race of the week. Green, Erb slides Simpson for the lead in turn one.
The field spreads out quickly.
Lap 8, Davenport started this race in 7th. He currently runs 7th. The point leader will head to the B Main.
Tyler Erb drives off to the win in heat one!
Heat 2 – Report
Mike Marlar and Devin Moran trial the pace truck in heat two.
Green, Marlar leads on the bottom, he’s clear by a car length.
Moran gets sideways on the cushion. That stacks up the entire outside lane in turn one. Shannon Babb is completely sideways to try and avoid the stack up. Minor damage collected but they remain green as Moran falls to 4th off turn two.
Marlar is driving away. Bronson is slicing through the field. Bronson has climbed to 2nd. He closes on the leader but not enough.
Mike Marlar takes the win in heat two!
Heat 3 – Report
Jimmy Owens and Tim McCreadie head to the line in heat three.
Green, Owens leads out of turn two. McCreadie has a run down the back.
McCreadie has a look on the bottom heading into turn three. They make light contact. McCreadie gets sideways and Norris pounces to fight for 2nd. McCreadie gathers it up and holds the position.

Heat 4 – Report
Earl Pearson Jr and Josh Richards lead them to the flag stand in the final heat race of the night. Green, Pearson leads on the bottom.
Lap 2, Richards moves to the cushion, he’s closed quickly to the bumper of Pearson. Richards looks to the outside down the front and Pearson leaves the lane open but he can’t get there.
Lap 3, Pearson slides to the wall on the exit of turn four. Richards has a run, he cuts to the bottom but he can’t complete the pass into turn one.
Pearson opens the gap. Inch by inch, he drives away.

Main Event – Report
Tyler Erb and Jimmy Owens trail the pace truck ahead of the main event. The feature winner will hit the road with a check for $12,000.
The field lines up in a four wide salute for the Illinois race fans. 50 laps of dirt late model racing is up next…
Davenport heads to the pits just ahead of the green! He’s in and back out as the field takes the green.
Green flag, Erb and Owens run even into turn one. Erb noses ahead through the center of the corner but Owens gets the drive off the top. Owens leads into turn three.
Lap 2, the hood as popped up on the Manville car. He slows as he can’t see. The caution is out.
Green, Marlar moves to 2nd on the bottom. Marlar heads to the bottom in turn three, Erb to the top. Marlar moves to the top on exit as Erb was building a run, he jumps on the brakes.
Lap 4, McCreadie is looking inside of Erb for 3rd. Erb shuts the door and they make contact into turn three. Erb holds the position.
Lap 13, Marlar is chasing down Owens at the front. Owens has heavy lap traffic ahead.
Lap 17, several cars tangle in turn three, the caution is out. Richards heads to the pit area.
Green, Erb kicks is sideways on the start. Owens and Marlar head to the bottom in turn one. Erb bounces off the cushion. Davenport has climbed into the top 10.
Lap 19, Norris is slow is turn one and the caution is back out.
Green, much better launch for Erb. He heads to the top again in turn one. Erb pulls even with Owens in the center of the corner, Owens wins the race off the corner.
Erb isn’t done. He hits the cushion in turn three and pulls even. They race side by side for the lead. Erb takes the lead!
Lap 28, Owens is all over Erb for the lead. Owens pulls even on the bottom. Lap 30, Erb diamonds turn one, and cuts to the bottom off the exit of turn two. Owens is forced to lift. Marlar closes on both of them.
Lap 37, Erb leads by five car lengths. Marlar takes 2nd away.
Lap 40, Davenport is running the wall. He’s beating off the rear but he’s up to 6th! Lap 41, trouble for Davenport in turn four! He must have clipped the wall. Now, there’s more right rear damage and front end damage to go with it. The yellow is out and he returns to the pits.
Green, Marlar is looking for the lead on the bottom. He can’t get the car to rotate though as he has the wheel locked to the left at the center of the corner.
Lap 43, Marlar can pull even at the entry to the corner. Erb gets the drive off around the top.
Lap 45, Bronson has a flat and the caution is out.
Green, Erb opens a gap of two car lengths. He smacks the wall off turn four but maintains the gap.
