2019 NASCAR Pit Road Penalties: Ranking 800+ violations

Speeding penalties, tire violations and more; Ranking who picked up the most penalties on pit lane

841 NASCAR pit penalties handed out during the 2019 racing season

40 cars hit the pit lane at multiple points throughout the race. 5 men jump over the wall for each team. Four tires are changed and the fuel tanked is filled to the rim, in about 13 seconds.

In the course of that chaos, there’s a lot that can go wrong. NASCAR has a team of officials that watch live video of each individual pit stall.

When a team violates the NASCAR rule book on the pit lane, officials are going to catch it.

What penalties are included in the rankings below? Speeding on pit road, tire violations during pit stop, too many crew members over the wall, entering closed pits, crew member over pit wall too soon, removing pit equipment from pit stall, pitting outside of pit stall, run pit exit sign, driving through too many pit boxed, improper fueling, commitment line violations, pit road, safety violations, equipment interference, jumping start or restart, illegal passing on restart, disobeying NASCAR requests, pre-race to the rear penalties and unspecified pit penalties.

These are the penalties that are issued during a race. Minor penalties that do not have fines attached.

As you can see from the list above, these are more than just pit road penalties. Pit road is the focus but these are any violations that result in pass through, tail of the field or being held a lap penalties.

Races excluded: The Clash at Daytona, Monster Energy Open and NASCAR All-Star Race.
