Full race results from the opening night of the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma

The pay is terrible but that’s not why the dirt racers have invaded Tulsa, Oklahoma. It’s the famed Chili Bowl Nationals, the biggest dirt midget event of the year.

This race features six straight nights of racing. The first five nights will see a different field of drivers.

In Saturday’s finale, the field will be moved into alphabet mains based on points gathered in their respective qualifying night. Each qualifying night features an a-main race.

Tim McCreadie spun in his heat race while running 2nd on the last lap. He’s raced through the alphabet mains and will start 19th in tonight’s main.

Ryan Bernal and Cannon McIntosh set the front row for the main event. 30 laps of dirt midget racing are up next…

Main Event
Report

Green flag, Bernal gets the jump on the inside lane. They nearly run three wide for 2nd. McInntosh holds 2nd.

Lap 2, McIntosh is moving around the cushion as Bernal runs the bottom. McIntosh drives right by on the outside lane.

Lap 6, Windom slides Briscoe, not clear. Briscoe is forced wide and nearly tags the outside wall, he’s lost several spots int he process.

Lap 11, Kevin Bayer is upside down and the caution is out.

Green, Courtney attempts the slider on McIntosh for the lead but he can’t clear him. One more try, McIntosh holds the lead on the outside lane.

Lap 15, most of the field runs nose to tail around the cushion.

Lap 17, the caution is out as Bernal has a flat tire.

Green, Courtney attempts another slider on McIntosh for the lead but he can’t make it work. McIntosh holds the lead once again.

Lap 18, Boyles jumps the cushion as nearly comes to a stop, Leary runs into the back of him in the process. The caution is back out as CJ Leary is stopped on the track with a flat right rear.

Green, McIntosh leads. Macedo jumps the cushion and drops outside the top five.

Lap 21, Macedo slides Roger Crockett but he clips him in the left front. Crockett is upside down and the caution is out. Officials roll him back over and he’s ready to keep it going.

Green, McIntosh leads on the outside as Courtney works the inside lane. McIntosh drops to the bottom to take the lane away.
