Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 80 (1-80 / 400)

Green flag, Hamlin spins the tires on the outside lane and falls to 4th before turn one. Truex Jr leads Chase Elliott off turn two.

Lap 31, the competition caution is out.

Truex Jr leads them to the pit lane but Hamlin wins the race to the pit exit. Slow stop for Larson as the crew works on splitter clearance.

Green, Hamlin gets the jump as Truex Jr and Joey Logano run side by side for 2nd. Logano takes the position on the outside lane.

Lap 65, Hamlin leads Logano by 1 second.

Final lap in stage one, Truex Jr works to the right rear of Logano for 2nd. Hamlin struggles to get off the bottom, Truex to 2nd.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 155 (81-235 / 400)

Green flag on stage two, Hamlin leads Truex Jr into turn one.

Lap 101, Truex Jr works to the right rear of Hamlin into turn one. He crosses under and dives to the inside in turn three but can’t complete the pass.

Lap 104, Truex Jr has a run off turn two. He dives to the inside in turn three and clears him, Truex Jr to the lead.

Lap 137, Truex Jr pits from the lead. Hamlin follows a lap later.

Lap 141, Ryan Newman spins into turn one with help from Austin Cindric. The caution is out. Six cars had yet to pit, led by Brad Keselowski.

The leaders hit the pits, Truex Jr is handed the race lead.

Green, Truex Jr leads into turn one as Hamlin and Harvick run side by side for 2nd. Hamlin holds 2nd.

47 to go in stage two, Truex Jr pits from the lead. Keselowski and six others who caught a break on the last caution are still on the track.

Lap 190, Keselowski leads Hamlin by 11 seconds. Hamlin has already pitted and he’s closing in a hurry.

Lap 207, Hamlin has caught the bumper of Keselowski. he drives right by on the inside, Hamlin returns to the lead.

4 to go in stage two, Hamlin has put Keselowski a lap downas he hangs out there on older tires.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 165 (236-400 / 400)

Green flag on stage three, Truex Jr has a look on the inside of Hamlin but Hamlin shuts the door and holds the lead off turn twp. Truex Jr loses momentum and Logano drives by on the outside to take 2nd.

82 to go, Hamlin leads Logano by 1.2 seconds. Harvick holds 3rd.

69 to go, Logano has caught the rear bumper of Hamlin. We have a battle for the race lead! The crew made adjustments to increase long-run pace, it’s working.

67 to go, Logano looks to the inside in turn three. He runs even off turn four. Logano boxes him in behind a lap car back in turn one and Joey Logano takes the race lead.

58 to go

58 to go, Logano pits from the race lead. Hamlin follows a lap later.

56 to go, Logano cycles back to the lead as Hamlin trails by 2 seconds.

Pit Penalty: Kyle Busch will serve a pass through for a commitment line violation.

35 to go, Hamoin has closed the gap to within 0.5 seconds!

30 to go, Hamlin is on his bumper. Logano moves to the outside lane to block, forcing Hamlin to the inside. Hamlin pulls even but he struggles to hold the momentum off the corner, Logano holds him off for now.

25 to go, Hamlin pushes on Logano’s back bumper off turn twp but Logano holds the lead.

20 to go

20 to go, Kevin Harvick backs it into the fence and the caution is out! He lost a right rear at corner entry.

Logano leads the field to the pit entry. Hamlin wins the race to the pit exit!

Green, Hamlin gets the jump on the inside as Logano and Bowman run side by side for 2nd.

11 to go, Bowman looks to the inside of Hamlin into turn one! They run even off turn two. Bowman gets loose into turn three but they remain side by side.

Back in turn one, Bowman drives it deep to the inside, clear. Alex Bowman to the lead!

5 to go, Bowman opens the gap.

2 to go, Bowman works heavy lap traffic!

White flag, Bowman runs three wide with lap traffic as Hamlin closes. But, he’s out of time.

Alex Bowman wins at Richmond Raceway!
