Race Report
Green flag, Mingus and Smith run even into turn one. Smith noses ahead at corner entry but Minus gases the center to win the race off turn two.
Lap 4, officials have handed the black flag to Sammy Smith. He’ll serve a pass through for a start violation.
Smith re-enters the track just behind the race leader. As he gets up to speed, he quickly passes the race leader and places himself back on the lead lap.
Lap 50, Mingus leads Mason Diaz by 0.5 seconds.
Lap 57, Diaz has climbed to the bumper of the race leader. He rubs on his rear bumper into turn one and forces the lane open. Diaz drives under him off turn two and wins the race into turn three, Diaz leads as he’s saved his tires for a late charge in this run.
Lap 76, the competition caution is out.
Green, Diaz gets the jump and he’s clear into turn one. Joey Iest works to the right rear of Mingus off turn two. They fight for space off gthe corner but Iest takes the 2nd spot away.
Lap 95, Sammy Smith has rebounded from the penalty at the start of the race. He’s climbed all the way to 2nd and he’s on the bumper of the race leader.
Lap 98, Diaz struggles off turn four and Smith has a run. He looks to the inside in turn three, Sammy Smith to the race lead!
Lap 120, Smith leads Diaz by 3.5 seconds.
Lap 145, Smith leads Diaz by 5 seconds. He drove all the way through the field, now he’s driving away from it.
49 to go, the second competition caution is out.
Green, Smith leads on the inside into turn one. Iest and Diaz run side by side for 2nd. Iest takes 2nd as Parker Retzlaff leans on Diaz to shove him back to 4th.
44 to go, Retzlaff looks inside of Iest for 2nd. Iest gets sideways off turn four and uses the car of Retzlaff to straighten him out.
40 to go, they remain side by side for 2nd. Retzlaff gets sideways ont he bottom. Diaz sticks his nose in there to make it three wide for 2nd. Iest holds the position on the outside.
21 to go, Daniel Dye is around on his own and the caution is out.
Green, Skith and Diaz run side by side into turn one. Smith clears him on the bottom to hold the lead.
10 to go, Smith leads Diaz by 1.5 seconds.
