Nick Hoffman injured in highway accident

Carl Edwards steps up to help the family

On Thursday night, Nick Hoffman and his race team were on their way to the Midwest for a weekend of racing. The hauler was involved in a serious accident en route.

Nick Hoffman, members of his race team and father Darrell are seriously injured following the crash.

The accident took place in Kentucky. They were on their way to race at Farmer City Raceway, Fairbury Speedway and Spoon River Speedway. 

30-year-old Hoffman has had a dominant year in the UMP Modified ranks. He’s also run many Late Model events as well as NASCAR Truck Series races. Most recently, he’s also ventured into dirt midget racing.

NASCAR legend Carl Edwards stepped in to fly Nick Hoffman’s sister Ashly out to visit the rest of the family via private jet.

Hoffman Family comments

“A call you never want at 3am. Last night while heading to the Midwest my brothers toter was involved in a horrible accident on the highway,” Ashly Hoffman Burnett stated via social media.

“My dad and brother are currently in the hospital. Dad has a broken vertebrae, wearing a brace, and cannot move. We are awaiting more tests for surgery.”

“Big Mason (not my Mason) is released with some bruises and cuts.”

“My brother is not as lucky. Nick hit his head in the accident and is currently sedated with an ICU doctor. He’s doing a lot better than he was when he got to the hospital.”

“Please pray for my family. My mom and sister in law are headed to Kentucky and I’m holding down our very big fort here at home. Please message me with any questions as you can imagine my mom is going thru a lot right now. I will update as soon as I know. Thank you all”

Update

“My brother is doing better bleeding is slow and trying to slowly wake him up,” the family added on Friday afternoon.

“I will update more when I get there with him. The racing community is so amazing! I’m so sorry I can’t answer everyone’s messages literally had hundreds today.”

She added, “Carl Edwards is flying here to pick me up to take me there! Thank you everyone.”

Hoffman visited victory lane as recently as Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Ohio.

Update: September 4, 2022

Nick Hoffman has since woken up in the hospital.

Hoffman tweeted on Sunday night, “Laying in a hospital bed. Didn’t know what happened to me until a couple hours ago. Incredible amount of support. Thanks to everyone for reaching out. Dad is struggling but I am starting to feel better.”
