7-time NASCAR Cup Series champion completes part-time schedule for NASCAR Cup Series events
Jimmie Johnson retired from full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition at the end of the 2020 season. After a brief stint in INDYCAR, he returned to NASCAR as a co-owner of Legacy Motor Club.
Earlier this month, Johnson released NASCAR Cup Series races had been added to his schedule. For those, he’ll run a Dollar Tree paint scheme.
Now, three more races have been added. For these, Carvana returns as a primary sponsor.
Carvana will sponsor the No. 84 car in the Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as the season finale at Phoenix Raceway. This brings Johnson complete schedule to six races for 2024.
Legacy Motor Club has made significant changes ahead of the 2024 season. John Hunter Nemechek joins the team full-time and they have also made a switch to Toyota.
The 7-time NASCAR Cup Series champion now has nine races on his 2024 schedule.
Jimmie Johnson comments
“I’m so proud to represent Carvana for a second NASCAR season, and our fourth season overall as partners, at some of my favorite races,” said Johnson in a team release.
“Carvana is a fun brand that captures the joy of cars and racing and they do a great job leveraging their partnership with LEGACY M.C. I’m excited to have a shot at another Daytona 500 trophy in our new Toyota Camry XSE’s and the paint scheme is sure to be a fan favorite.”
