Kaulig Racing lets crew chief go for Shane van Gisbergen

Shane van Gisbergen will have a new crew chief beginning this weekend

Shane van Gisbergen currently drivers the No. 16 car part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Kaulig Racing. He also runs full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series where he’s picked up three wins this season.

Travis Mack has been the crew chief for the Cup car. Starting this weekend at Las Vegas, Darian Grubb will fill the role.

He previously worked with van Gisbergen in 2023 where the combination went to victory lane during the race on the Chicago Street Course.

Grubb has 24 NASCAR Cup Series wins as a crew chief. He collected 5 in 2011 with Tony Stewart and 5 more in 2012 with Denny Hamlin.

For 2025, Trackhouse Racing has acquired a third charter. Shane van Gisbergen will drive the No. 88 car full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Kaulig Racing comments

The team confirmed the change on Wednesday:

“Travis Mack will no longer serve as crew chief for the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet, effective immediately,” Kaulig Racing opened.

“We appreciate the commitment Travis made to the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season and wish him well in the future. Darian Grubb will serve as the No. 16 crew chief this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with driver Shane van Gisbergen.”

They added, “More announcements regarding the position will be made in the near future.”
