Josh Williams pulled from the seat during Las Vegas NASCAR race

NASCAR driver Josh Williams suffers illness during the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series is racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

In the past couple weeks, Josh Williams has struggled with breathing issues. Those problems are amplified inside the racecar when the belts are pulled tight.

However, he attempted to give it a go, taking the green flag.

Josh Williams came over the radio, “I can’t catch my breath. I’m not gonna be able to do it.”

The team responded, “Alright buddy. You gotta give me a heads up. Gotta give me time.”

Team members added, “I don’t have anybody here just yet. But, if you need to stop, you can stop. Take it to the garage. But, we’re working up a plan.”

The team gathered a reserve driver. Ty Dillon sat on the pit wall, waiting to replace Williams.

Yet, Williams was able to complete the first stage. As he pulled to the pit lane, Ty Dillon has jumped in.

The race is ongoing.
