Tony Eury Jr is working with Dale Earnhardt Jr tonight at Florence Motor Speedway
Tonight, Dale Earnhardt Jr is racing at Florence Motor Speedway. It will be his CARS Tour Pro Late Model debut.
He’s driving a car from GMS Racing in a deal that came together at the last minute. Tony Eury Jr is serving as his crew chief.
Tony Eury Jr previously worked with Dale Jr at DEI and Hendrick Motorsports. They picked up two NASCAR Cup Series wins with Eury Jr as the crew chief.
Dale Earnhardt Jr comments on reuniting with Tony Eury Jr
“I texted him probably two weeks ago,” Dale Earnhardt Jr stated of reuniting with Tony Eury Jr. “I’m like, ‘I’m going to run a Pro, I think.’ “
Dale Jr added, “It’s a brand new car, right off the truck. Fun to drive. No problems. We’ve been really happy.”
“It’s just fun working with Jr. He’s just so sharp. And, I remember all this about him when I was working with him in the Cup days. I was always kinda spoiled how handled everything was. How ready everything was. And how he was so confident in the decisions he was making in terms of the setup of the car.”
“This has been a lot of fun to be here today and drive the car. The car’s excellent. Just have to be smart in the race.”

Eury Jr explained, “When he called, we really didn’t have a car put together.”
“We had to move some stuff around. I had a car up in the showroom that was about half done. So, we pulled that car out. The guys really thrashed this week to put cars together. There was a lot of moving pieces just trying to make it all happen.”
“He told me it just does everything a little bit better. Turns a little better, brakes a little better and it just runs a little faster.”
