East Alabama Motor Speedway results from the Bama Bash featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on March 24th, 2018
Tonight, the tour unloads for another night of dirt late model racing action. East Alabama Motor Speedway hosts the 21st annual Bama Bash in Phenix City, Alabama.
EAMS is a bad fast 3/8-mile clay oval. The high-banked track features 18 degrees in the corners and not much less down the straights.

Qualifying – Report

Josh Richards was quickest in group A with a 14.373. Jimmy Owens nearly nipped the pole away in group B with a 14.385. Richards sets overall quick time of the 36 cars on set.
Heat 1 – Report
March 24, 2018
Josh Richards and Don O’Neal set row one in the first heat race of the night. Green, Richards slides into turn 1, he drifts to the edge of the racing surface. Don O’Neal crosses him on the exit. Don O’Neal makes it a fight in turn 3 on the bottom. The cross again.
Spin in turn 3. As the driver spun across the track another car came in full speed with nowhere to go. Big crash, the caution is out. Jameson drives away. Leonhardi is getting a push back.
Green, O’Neal leads into turn 1. Caution. Green, O’Neal leads, Richards 2nd and Pearson is trying to stick his nose between the both of them in turn 1. O’Neal wins the battle of turn 2.
Richards charges, he’s all over O’Neal and throws it low in turn 1. O’Neal begins to open the gap back up as Bronson heads to the pits with a tail full of smoke.
Don O’Neal wins the first heat race of the night.

Tim McCreadie and Jason Hiett trail the pace truck in heat race number two. Green, McCreadie is gone, he check out right at the line.
McCreadie wins heat race number two by a full straight-away.
Heat 3 – Report

Jimmy Owens and Brandon Sheppard set the fromt row in heat three. Green, Sheppard gets the jump into turn 1. False start, they’ll rack them again.
Green, Sheppard hits the top. He has a nose on Owens in the middle of the corner. They fight for space on the exit. Minor contact for the lead.
Sheppard wins the race off turn two and begins to drive away.
Satterlee has lost drive. He stacks up Overton behind him. Satterlee to the pits, the green is still out.
Sheppard drives away. He wins heat race number three.
Heat 4 – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Ricky Weiss lead the field in the fourth and final heat race of the night. Green, Bloomquist is clear by two car lengths into turn 1. Weiss stacks up Pierce.
Weiss and Pierce battle for 2nd. They ar both maintaining the gap to Bloomquist. Pierce is trying to make the bottom work. He tries to slide him in turn 1. Not enough, Pierce backs out and falls back in line.
Bloomquist wins the fourth and final heat race of the night.
Main Event – Report

Kyle Bronson will run the main event in Jeff Mathews machine.
Don O’Neal and Brandon Sheppard will lead them to the green flag. 4 wide salute for the Alabama crowd, we’re racing. 50 laps around EAMS are next.
Green, Don O’Neal leads into turn 1. He runs the middle. Sheppard hangs onto his right rear but O’Neal has the lead off turn 2.
Don O’Neal opens a gap as the the back half of the field is exploring the very bottom for the first time tonight. Dust fills the air and clouds the vision of all.
Sheppard is closing. He’s there. Sheppard has a run off turn 2. He dives to the bottom in turn 3. A slider and a new leader.
The caution is out.
Green, Bloomquist is around O’Neal. He mounts a charge for the leader. They both run the middle but Bloomquist is closing. He’s within a car length.
Lap 15, McCreadie is slow down the back. He was running 4th. Lap 17, the caution is out.
Green, Sheppard leads by 3 car lengths off turn two.
Lap 25, the field has migrated to the top lane. There’s no margin for error. The race track slips away, down hill if you jump the cushion. Billy Moyer Jr just jumped it, he lost 5 positions or more trying to re-enter the racing line as he spun his tires in the loose dirt.
Boom Briggs is off track in the same spot that Moyer went off. The caution is out.
Green, Sheppard still leads. Don O’Neal gets by Bloomquist on the restart. Pierce fights with Weiss for 4th, they swap, twice.
Lap 29, Bailes and Coulter tangle in turn 4.
Green, Sheppard punches it from the cushion in turn 4. Bloomquist is through to 2nd. McDowell runs 7th after transferring through the B Main. McDowell grabbed a few more on the restart.
Lap 32, caution for Coulter.
Green, O’Neal is back to 2nd. They swap every restart. The high side has the advantage. McDowell picks up a few more spots as Davenport is off track down the back stretch.
Lap 36, flat tire for Dennis Erb Jr. The caution is out.
Green, Bloomquist is back to 2nd. He closing on Sheppard.
Lap 43, Mason Zeigler is off track down the back. He comes to a stop before turn 3. Caution. Satterlee comes in to charge a RR.
Green, Sheppard leads. Bloomquist maintains 2nd in a turn 1 fight with Don O’Neal. Sheppard is driving away.
Brandon Sheppard takes the win at East Alabama Motor Speedway!
The tour has a few weeks off as they exit Alabama. The Lucas Oil Late Models will return on April 6-7th in Batesville, Arkansas via Batesville Motor Speedway.
