NASCAR Xfinity Series race results from Road America on August 25th, 2018

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series is the headliner event. The NXS drivers are set to take to Road America in Eklhart Lake, Wisconsin. It’s a 4.048-mile road course will 14 turns.

Matt Tifft and Cole Custer will lead them to the start. It’s a 45 lap event on the NASCAR road course. The race is the opening round for the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs.

This race marks the return of NASCAR champion Bill Elliott. It also marks the NASCAR debut for Conor Daly.

Stage 1
Road America

Laps: 10

Green flag, Tifft gets a push down the hill into turn 1. James Davison comes from row two, he pulls even with Tifft under braking on the outside. Tifft leads out of turn one.

Lap 3, Davison has a run down the hill into turn 1. He has a look but backs out. The top four cars runs nose to tail.

Davison has another look. He has a nose of him but he locks up the brakes to back out. Davison gets tagged on the rear bumper, he loses the spot to Cole Custer.

A car has stalled off track and the caution is out. Hemric, Sadler and a few others hit the pit lane. They can now make it to the end of stage 2.

Green, Bell gives a push to Tifft on the inside. Custer is working the outside. Ryan Reed is off the track and stuck in the grass. Reed was turning into the wall nose first. Davison heads to pit road. Reed’s stuck, the caution is back out. It’s going to be a 1 lap shootout for the stage win.

Green, Christopher Bell looks to the inside at the line, Tifft blocks that run. Erik Jones is around at the back.

Custer locks up the brakes. Bell takes over 2nd. Matt Tifft wins stage 1 at Road America.

Bill Elliott was 20th before the 1 lap shootout. He fell to 31st at the conclusion of stage 1. Elliott was involced in a stack up and has hood damage.

Stage 2
Road America

Laps: 10

The field heads for the pit lane. Matt Tifft is the first car off the pit lane. Brendan Gaughan and Austin Cindric and several others stayed out. Clements is the first car off pit road, he took no tires. Clements will restart 10th.

Green flag on stage two, Gaughan and Cindric are even into and through turn 1. Clements gets a better run out of turn 1. Cindric noses ahead into turn 2, he takes the lead.

Lap 15, Hemric has climbed to the rear bumper of the leader. Hemric has fresher tires. He puts the bumper to him but Cindric holds the position. Cindric has stopped on the track! He lost power while leading! Hemric leads and the caution is back out.

Several cars hit the pit lane.

Green, the inside line gets the jump. Hemric is clear into turn 1. 3 to go in stage 2, Davison heads to the pit lane from 2nd.

1 to go, Hemric leads by 5 car lengths. Five cars run nose to tail for 2nd. Hemric takes the win in stage 2 at Road America!

Stage 2 Results: 1. Daniel Hemric; 2. Matt Tifft; 3. Elliott Sadler; 4. Christopher Bell; 5. Justin Allgaier; 6. Justin Marks; 7. Cole Custer; 8. Ryan Truex; 9. Andy Lally; 10. Ross Chastain; — 22. Bill Elliott;

Stage 3
Road America

Laps: 25

Most of the field hits the pit lane. Justin Allgaier remains on the race track. Tifft wins the race off pit road with four new tires. Bill Elliott restarts 7th.

Green flag on stage 3, Allgaier noses ahead on the inside, he pulls to the outside for a wide entry into turn 1. Gaughan cuts to the inside and takes away to preferred groove. Gaughan leads off turn 1.

Lap 24, Katherine Legge has spun from the 3rd position. The nose of Tifft might have helped the result. No caution, Gaughan still leads with fresh tires coming quickly from behind.

Lap 27, Allgaier and Bell are off the track. Bell and Allgaier ran out of room into turn 6. Bell pinched him a little too much. They both rejoin the track. Allgaier heads to the pit lane under green.

Lap 29, the caution is out for fluid on the track. Several cars are off the race track. Multiple cars spun in the rear end fluid that dropped from Tyler Reddick.

Most of the field heads for the pit lane. Matt Tifft wins the race off the pit lane. Ryan Sieg and Justin Allgaier remain on the track, they’ll lead the field to the green. Tifft restarts in 4th.

Green, Sieg gets the jump. Bell is pushing on the right rear of Allgaier into turn 1. Bell gets the worst of it, he comes out of turn one, three wide and in the middle. Bell falls to 5th.

Justin Allgaier moves by Sieg to take the lead. Allgaier pitted for new tires just ahead of the caution.

14 to go, Gaughan cooks the final corner. He tags the right rear of Hemric and pushes him off the track. Sieg is off track behind them.

10 t0 go, Allgaier leads Davison by just under a second. Allgaier’s tires are just 3 laps older than the rest. However, it they have another cycle on them.

9 to go, Davison is better under braking into nearly every corner. The backend of Allgaier skates as he tries to hold the lead.

9 to go, the caution is back out. Josh Bilicki is stuck in the tire barriers. The #45 had a brake failure.

Green, Davison gets the jump! Bell pushed Davison to the lead. Allgaier and Bell rub doors for 2nd, Allgaier holds the position. Bill Elliott is off track behind them, he was 17th. Elliott gets out of the grass but he’s 28th.

Davison offshoots the corner! Allgaier retakes the lead!

5 to go, Allgaier leads Davison by 1.3 seconds. Davison has 3 cars lined up behind him. Tifft runs 3rd, two laps ago, he was a full second quicker than the race leader. Marks and Bell both get by Tifft. Bell pushes Tifft off the track. Tifft spins Bell!

4 to go, playoff contender Christopher Bell heads for the pit lane.

3 to go, Marks is all over Davison for 2nd. Marks out brakes him into turn 5, he runs wide on the exit. Davison swings under him on the exit and retakes the position into turn 6. Marks is looking again. Davison shuts the door, they both go around!

2 to go, Tifft moves into 2nd. Allgaier leads by nearly 7 seconds.
