Las Vegas Motor Speedway: NASCAR Penalty Report (September 2018)

The weekly NASCAR penalty report has been released

The number 2 Xfinity team penalized

Ahead of NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying there was a long line at NASCAR’s inspection tent. Several teams made multiple passes through the inspection line. Each time, they were sent to the back of the line.

As a result of the stack up, several cars weren’t able to turn a lap in qualifying. In total, seven drivers were unable to turn a lap. Cole Custer was the last car to the track as the clock ticked away in round one. Custer went on to sweep all three stages of qualifying and set the pole time.

Drivers who failed to make round two after failing inspection: Ryan Preece, Ryan Truex, Daniel Hemric, Brandon Jones, Matt Tifft, Garrett Smithley and Stan Mullis.

Matt Tifft failed inspection four times. That has brought a penalty to the driver and the team. During the Las Vegas Motor Speedway event, Tifft also lost his car chief as he was ejected per the NASCAR rulebook following the failed inspection attempts.
