The NASCAR penalty report has been released following the race weekend at Richmond Raceway – Two teams penalized following Richmond Raceway

Two teams have been hit with a fine following Richmond Raceway. Both teams are from the same organization, Joe Gibbs Racing. One was the race winning car in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series division. The other was the race winning car in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Kyle Busch was penalized ahead of the event. He started at the tail due to unapproved adjustments. Busch got into the wall in qualifying, the team elected to fix the damage.

Kyle Busch started at the tail of the field. He then drove through the field and to the win at Richmond Raceway. However, the team has been fined following post-race inspection.

Richmond Penalties

“NASCAR cited the No. 18 team in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for a lug-nut violation on Wednesday. The Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was found to have one lug nut not safe/secure in post-race inspection following Kyle Busch’s victory at Richmond Raceway in the NASCAR Playoffs.”

“As a result of the violation of sections 10.9.10.4 of the NASCAR Rule Book, crew chief Adam Stevens was fined $10,000.”

NASCAR Xfinity Series
Richmond Penalties

“In the Xfinity Series, the No. 20 team of race-winner Christopher Bell was also cited with a lug-nut violation. The Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was found to have one lug nut not safe/secure in post-race inspection.”

“Crew chief Jason Ratcliff was fined $5,000.”
