Richmond Race Results: September 22, 2018 – NASCAR Cup Series

Richmond Raceway results featuring the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series on September 22nd, 2018

Tonight, it’s race number two in round one of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. The 0.75-mile of Richmond Raceway is set for the green flag in theFederated Auto Parts 400.

Kyle Busch, Daniel Suarez, Regan Smith and David Regan will start in the rear for various issues. It’s a 400 lap event at Richmond Raceway. Kevin Harvick will start on the inside, Denny Hamlin on the outside.

Stage 1
Richmond Raceway

Laps: 100

Green flag, Kevin Harvick leads on the bottom into turn one. Hamlin washes up the hill on the outside and Truex rolls to 2nd on the bottom.

Lap 15, at the front, Truex is on the bumper of Harvick for the lead. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch has moved up to 21st after starting at the tail of the field.

Lap 42, Truex is under Harvick off turn four. He drives it deep to the bottom in turn one. Harvick may have let him go. Truex takes the lead at Richmond.

Lap 53, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is on new tires and he’s flying through the field. Stenhouse was looking under Hamlin off turn four. The closing rate was quick. Hamlin came down the track, not aware that he’s there. Hamlin is sideways but he saves it. Hamlin heads for the pit lane.

Lap 75, Harvick has returned to the bumper of Truex. Harvick has a long run car as Truex begins to fade. At this point, the top 12 cars in the race are all playoff drivers.

5 to go in stage 1, Truex leads Harvick by 0.3 seconds. Keselowski is on the bumper of Harvick.

Martin Truex Jr wins stage 1 at Richmond Raceway!

Laps: 100

The field heads to the pit lane. Martin Truex Jr is first in and first off.

Green, Truex Jr gets the jump on Harvick. Kurt Busch runs them three wide for 3rd. Almirola takes 3rd on the high side.

Lap 150, Martin Truex Jr continues to lead.

Lap 155, green flag pit stops have begun. Joey Logano will lead the drivers on the split strategy.

Lap 175, Truex Jr leads Harvick by 0.9 seconds. Logano is 17th, 1 lap down.

Lap 195, they’ve gone the entire race without a caution for contact. Truex leads Harvick by 0.7 seconds.

Lap 199, Ryan Blaney has passed Truex to get his lap back. Clint Bowyer does the same.

Laps: 200

The field heads for the pit lane. Truex is in 1st and off in 4th. Chase Elliott and Harvick are to the pit exit first.

Green, Elliott leads on the bottom. Keselowski sweeps around Harvick on the outside lane.

Lap 213, Brad Keselowski has run down the leader. Keselowski looks to the outside into turn three. Keselowski is at his right rear off turn four. Elliott leaves the lane open and Keselowski completes the pass in turn one.

Lap 241, Chase Elliott is running the diamond. He’s entering high on entry and cutting to the bottom on exit. That makes his exit straighter. Meanwhile, Keselowski is losing the balance. Elliott has climbed to his bumper.

Lap 243, Elliott has a run off turn four. He looks to the inside and completes the pass into turn one.

lap 266, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney head for the pit lane. At the front, Chase Elliott leads Keselowski by 1.2 second. Lap 269, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch head for the pit lane. Lap 271, Chase Elliott hits the pit lane.

Elliott cycles in behind Keselowski and Kyle Busch. They will be a pass for the lead.

Lap 285, Kyle Busch has caught Brad Keselowski. From the back to the front, Lap 287, Kyle Busch drives to the lead on the bottom.

Lap 300, Kyle Busch leads Keselowski by 2 seconds.

Lap 319, Kevin Harvick has caught Keselowski for 2nd. He’s on his back bumper. Harvick looks to the inside, clear.

Lap 320, green flag pit stops are underway. Kurt Busch leads the group to the pit lane. 75 to go, Hamlin is on the pit lane! Jeffrey Earnhardt is around! He’s parked against the outside wall. Matt Kenseth got into his left rear and turned him around.

The rest of the field heads for the pit lane. Busch is first in and first off.

Green, Kyle Busch gets the jump on the bottom. Keselowski sweeps around Harvick to take 2nd.

65 to go, Keselowski is all over the bumper of Kyle Busch for the lead. It’s short lives, Busch begins to drive away.

60 to go, Brad Keselowski has moved from the bottom to the top. He’s run Busch back down in a hurry. Keselowski is at his right rear off turn four, Busch leaves the lane open. They run side by side, Keselowski is clear on the outside.

50 to go, Keselowski and Busch both run the bottom. Keselowski leads by a car length.

48 to go, Busch looks to the inside. He’s there, Keselowksi holds him off. Keselowski drives it deep into turn one on the bottom, he gets loose. Busch gets another run. Busch nearly tags his left rear on corner entry. Keselowski holds him off once more.

They’re side by side again. Kyle Busch cooks the entry on the bottom. The front end washes up the hill and they all but rub fenders. Same thing again in the next corner. Busch lifts down the front stretch and slots in behind Keselowski to cool off his tires.

37 to go, Kyle Busch has another run off turn four. Busch drives it deep on the bottom into turn one. Busch slides up and takes the high side away off turn two. A slide job gets it done. Keselowski is all over his bumper off the corner, a light bump as they head down the back stretch. Kyle Busch is waving his hand in the mirror.

30 t0 go, Harvick is beating the bumper off the No. 2 car. Harvick looks to the inside, Keselowski lets him go. That’s the pass for 2nd. Kyle Busch leads Harvick by 1.6 seconds.

15 to go, Harvick has cut the gap to 1 second. Both cars are working lapped traffic.

10 to go, the gap remains at one second, no cars between them. Kyle Busch has three lap cars ahead.

4 to go, Kyle Busch leads by 0.4 seconds.

Kyle Busch is going to hold him off. From the tail of the field to victory lane. Kyle Busch wins the NASCAR race at Richmond Raceway!
