Kansas Speedway results for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on October 21, 2018

Today, NASCAR Playoffs head into a cutoff race at Kansas Speedway. The 1.5-mile oval is set for the start of the elimination race in the Round of 12. Only 8 drivers will load up with playoff hopes at the conclusion of the event.

Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick will lead the field to the green flag. The Kansas Speedway race is 267 laps in length.

Stage 1
Kansas Speedway

Green flag, Joey Logano gets the jump on the outside lane. He’s clear before turn one and heads to the bottom. Harvick falls to 3rd and Blaney gets by.

Lap 3, Daniel Suarez is in the wall. Bowman gets a little damage as he tried to avoid it. Suarez heads to the pits, no caution.

Lap 37, Joey Logano leads Blaney by 1.2 seconds. Kyle Larson started at the tail of the field. He’s up to 14th.

Lap 38, pit stops are underway. Truex heads to his pit stall, Larson follows as does Bowyer.

Lap 41, race leader Joey Logano heads to the pit lane.

Lap 52, Bubba Wallace remains on the race track. Logano is on fresh tires. He has caught Wallace. He drives by with ease. Logano has cycled back to the lead.

Lap 57, William Byron is up in smoke. The engine has expired and he’s dropped oil all over the track. The caution is out.

The field heads to the pit lane. Two tires for Blaney, he leads them off the pit lane. Logano is the first car with four tires, he’ll restart in 4th.

Green, Blaney leads as Stenhouse stacks up the outside line. Logano is up to 2nd as they head into turn three.

Lap 70, Joey Logano is on the bumper of Blaney for the lead. He has has a run off turn 2 but can’t complete the pass. Logano looks to the inside in turn three, Blaney swings to the lead with the high side momentum off turn four.

Lap 72, Logano has a run off turn four. Blaney throws a block at the flag stand. Blaney runs high in turn three. Logano follows and cuts to the bottom at the exit. Logano has a run on the inside. They run even at the flag stand, Logano side drafts and pulls to the bottom. Logano is clear into turn one.

Joey Logano cruises to the win in stage 1 at Kansas Speedway!

Stage 2
Kansas Speedway

The field heads to the pit lane. Logano is first in and first off. Harvick is off in 2nd.

Green flag on stage two, Logano is clear into turn one. Blaney sweeps around Harvick on the outside. Harvick fights back on the inside in turn 3. They still run side by side. Blaney cuts down the hill off turn two, Blaney confirms 2nd.

Lap 96, Harvick is all over the bumper of Blaney for 2nd. Blaney gets aero loose off turn two, he nearly collects the wall. Harvick is looking for 2nd into turn three. Side by side off turn four, Blaney lifts and lets him have it in turn one.

Lap 116, Blaney is coming in a hurry. He swings around Harvick with ease off turn four. Blaney is running right against the wall.

Lap 120, Truex is again the first car to the pit lane. Lap 122, Logano heads to his box. Lap 123, Blaney heads for the pit lane. Uncontrolled tire for Kurt Busch, he’ll be handed a penalty.

Lap 137, Keselowski has yet to come to pit road. He leads. Lap 138, Keselowski to the pits. Kevin Harvick has cycled to the lead!

5 to go in stage 2, Harvick leads Blaney and Logano by nearly 2 seconds. Blaney is coming quick.

2 to go, Harvick leads Blaney by 0.7 seconds.

Kevin Harvick takes the stage 2 win at Kansas Speedway!

Stage 3
Kansas Speedway

The field returns to the pit lane. Harvick is first in and first off. Chase Elliott is off in 2nd!

Green flag on stage three, Blaney gives a shove to Harvick on the outside lane. Harvick noses ahead of Elliott into turn one as Elliott gets loose on the bottom. Blaney follows him through to take over 2nd.

Lap 185, Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer fight for space off turn two. Johnson was clear, by centimeters. Bowyer was trying to avoid letting him in, Bowyer scratches the wall, light contact.

Lap 189, Chase Elliott has a run on Blaney off turn two. Elliott cuts to the bottom in turn three, he slides him for 2nd. Blaney could have crossed under him off the corner, he elected not to.

Lap 196, Larson has climbed to 4th. Blaney is boxed in behind a lap car on the outside lane. Larson drives deep on the bottom in turn three. Larson tries a slide job. Blaney swings back around on the outside off the corner.

55 to go, Kyle Larson is the first car to the pit lane.

53 to go, Harvick heads to the pit box. He hands the lead to Keselowski. Penalty for Harvick! Too fast down pit road.

Keselowski has the entire field a lap down. He’s praying for a caution.

Lap 225, Keselowski finally heads to the pit lane. He hands the lead off to Chase Elliott. Larson scraps the wall as he runs right against the wall to get by Kyle Busch for 2nd. Busch holds the position.

31 to go, Chase Elliott leads Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson by 3.24 seconds.

21 to go, Jimmie Johnson has caught the wall. No caution.

18 to go, Kyle Busch has cut the lead to just 1.3 second.

5 to go, Chase Elliott leads Kyle Busch by just 0.5 seconds!

2 to go, Chase Elliott has opened the gap by up. It’s now 0.7 seconds.
